All the banter about the .38 Super, I pulled my tired Series 80 out of the safe and thought, why not do a makeover. I bought this several years ago and it does shoot quite well.

It has some light pitting, holster wear, idiot scratch and the infamous nasty ass plastic mainspring housing that I will replace...I will be keeping the Mexican Silver marked grips on it....

Project being delayed while I install a DRO on the mill. Will be greatly appreciated when I dovetail the slide. Of course none of the supplied brackets come even close to working and I am having to fabricate everything. On the lathe I went with magnetic scales which are a little less accurate than the glass linear scales I am installing on the mill. The lathe was a lot easier to install, the mill not so much...

Got the Z axis (quill) done yesterday....now working on the Y axis.....

    Side tracked again..............

The Thompson M1A1 charging handle is short and slick......I have a devil of a time locking the bolt back.........

Machined a longer knurled charging handle tonight.......Auto Ordnance wants 50.00 for a factory extended charging handle.....f' that............

It works......much easier to pull the bolt all the way to lock it back.....now to blue it......

Beautiful. Until you have attempted to order parts from Auto Ordinance / Karr you have not truly experienced frustration, measured on the Rictor scale. I dont want to derail your thread, so I leave it at that.
