Maybe a little bit sneakier, but the tactic is not new. Gun Owners For Safety and the Liberal Gun Club come to mind. They all masquerade as "pro 2A" while backing gun control agendas. As mentioned in the link, they all use their "membership" numbers to inflate just how "most" gun owners want gun control.
