I can't see the photo very good. Top of the truck hit it?
Feel sorry for the families. Had a nephew killed not far south of there. Seen a lot of accidents when I drove it everyday. Bad stretch of road under any circumstances.

How did a semi take out a beam? It usually rips the top the trailer off. Top of the sleeper.
It doesn't look like he hit anything. I go under that bridge 4 times a day. The speed slows to 60
Little lane shift. But barriers out far enough to keep you away from support pylons.
And if that's the case. And he didn't hit anything. Catastrophic concrete failure.

An the prestress company will be investigated

    Gunz are icky.
    Good God.
Prayers out to the poor people who where in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I'll bet that traffic jam can be seen from the Moon.

The bridge was under construction and may not have been as solid as a completed bridge.

    Here is an update:

Bridge collapse on I-35 in Salado, Texas, sheriff?s office says | www.statesman.com

3:15 p.m. update: Veronica Beyer, a spokeswoman for the Texas Department of Transportation, said that the beams of the bridge under construction were 14 feet and one-half inch above the surface of Interstate 35.
Three signs were posted in the two miles before the bridge, she said.
Each sign said that the bridge clearance was 13 feet 6 inches.

“We say it’s lower than it actually is,” Beyer said, to provide a margin of safety.
Beyer could not say the height of the truck that hit the bridge as it was traveling north on I-35 on Thursday morning.

The truck stuck under the bridge looks like it had plenty of clearance, so I don't think that's it. I'm not seeing anything with a man lift or any clear point of impact.
