I’m surprised ChinaMarkers hold up. I’ve never known them to really get dry, especially in a hot environment like Texas.

When I use nail polish I do it pretty much the same as the method you’re using for the marker. Prep the surface well, put in enough to fill the etching, let it dry, then wipe over it with nail polish remove to get in spillover. Leaves the paint set just lower than the surface.

Touch up automotive paint, put down in the grooves, gently wipe the surface with a clean cloth towel to remove the excess.

How do I get this white crap out of the anodizing on my AR?

Just like 'How do I get rattle can point off my AR?' after all the rattle can paint jobs was all the thing.

The flaking just helps camouflage it.

Testors model paint works great and you can get subdued tones to match any tone. slop it on, wait 20 seconds, cloth with acetone wipe over high spot leave paint filled channels.

Camo flat is good for military. I also do pistol mag markings to make more visible.
