A measure that would add Louisiana to the long lists of Constitutional, or “permitless,” carry states has passed its first hurdle in the state legislature.

Senate Bill 1, authored by Republican state Sen. Blake Miguez, was approved on Feb. 20 by a 6-1 vote in the Senate Judiciary Committee and will now be considered in the Senate Revenue and Fiscal Affairs Committee.

Louisiana lawmakers are wasting no time in their latest attempt to enshrine Constitutional Carry into law. A special session on crime and public safety kicked off on Monday, and just four days into the session the state Senate overwhelmingly approved Sen. Blake Miguez's legislation that would allow lawful gun owners to carry without the need for a government-issued permission slip.

So far, LA hasn’t had all those “gotcha’s” as the Texas laws have.

One oddity is that in order to enter anyone’s home, CHL carriers must get permission from home owner.

    We all ignore that.

Louisiana lawmakers gave final approval to Constitutional Carry legislation on Wednesday, less than two weeks after convening for a special session on crime and public safety. The state Senate signed off on SB 1 last week, and the House gave its stamp of approval in a 75-28 vote on Wednesday morning.

With Lousiana Gov. Jeff Landry in full support of the legislation, SB 1's provisions should take effect on July 4th, giving Louisianans the freedom to lawfully carry a firearm for self-defense without the need for a government-issued permission slip, which Senate sponsor Blake Miguez has called a barrier to exercising our constitutionally-protected rights.

Louisiana will be the 28th state to adopt Constitutional Carry, and not a single one of the 27 where the law is already in place has seen fit to repeal the measure and once again require licenses before legal gun owners can bear arms.

Jeff Landry, an ex-deputy, ex-policeman, & ex State AG; is now tackling repeals of overzealous criminal-coddling recent “criminal justice reforms”, which amounted to “catch & release”.

Although a devout Catholic, he is also trying to re-establish our death penalty for the most serious crimes.

My LEO Son tells that the Obama-Biden refusals to prosecute under “felon-in-possession” laws has emboldened our career criminals.

So, to clarify for our Texas Friends; carry of pistols was NEVER ILLEGAL in Louisiana. But, we had anti-“concealed weapons” laws for about a century. IOW, “OC” was the rule.

Those laws were widely ignored, and were enforced only against criminals.

In fact, certain classes of citizens were pretty much EXPECTED to carry. Those included bankers, pharmacists, courriers, ex-LEO’s, military officers, physicians, public officials, & school principals. Right or wrong, that was the common practice.

Today, with a century or more of experience, we KNOW that anti-carry laws not only fail at decreasing violent crimes, but actually make everything worse.

In a modern world where government powers experience unending growth, this move to re-arm noncriminal citizens is refreshing and may prove decisive.

    Please “stay tuned”.

It's Official: Louisiana Becomes 28th State to Adopt Permitless Carry

"Today, we join 27 other states in passing Constitutional Carry. I promised the folks of Louisiana that I would champion Constitutional Carry into law, and within two months, I have honored that commitment," Republican Gov. Jeff Landry told Fox News Digital.

Landry signed the NRA-backed Senate Bill 1 into law Tuesday, which allows eligible residents 18 and older to carry a concealed handgun without a permit.... Starting this Independence Day, if you can lawfully possess a firearm in the state you'll be able to lawfully carry without the need for a state-issued license. This applies to everyone 18 and older, even those who live outside the state, so folks won't have to worry if their state has reciprocity with Louisiana.

p.s. They got the starting age right.

Are we about at the end of Constitutional Carry? Can Second Amendment Rights really be extended anymore in today's political environment? Washington Gun Law President, William Kirk, discusses how when you look at the political map, there really is not much room left for anymore Constitutional Carry States. Only the Carolinas remain and once they pass permitless carry laws, the political map tells there will not be anymore. It was a great run. He has a point.

My TV just showed me something very scary.

It said that the EVIL NY Governor ‘’Hochul’’ has dispatched National Guard to ‘’Patrol’’ the NYC subways

OK, what was so scary ?

    They were searching passers-by !

How could the SCotUS allow that ?

    Then, there is this:

Were I an ‘’expert’’ making an informative video, I’d try to inform myself better than this guy FIRST.

He apparently is unaware that the Federal Courts have told the State that they cannot enforce the 1000’ schools gunfree zones.

And, he seems to not know that the new law applies to CONCEALED CARRY, not ‘’carrying a weapon in public’’.

Horrors, I just subscribed both of us to “U S Law Shield”, child of ‘’Texas Law Shield’’; I pray their actual Attorneys are better-informed.
