Has anyone here been out to Eagle Peak shooting range? Its close to work and might make for a good extended lunch. Good for out to 300?

I haven't been but I hear it is a fudd range with silly rules like no FMJ ammo on the rifle range and you have to buy a membership card on top of your range fee.

I just wanna slap steel at 500 plus with my 300 ultra and 6.5 creed. In AZ we would chase the whitetails(Coues deer) at distance. love the challenge.

Yea no steel targets there unfortunately. One in the Chamber range up by Killeen has steel out to 600. They are temporarily closed due to a tornado but should open back up.

It's a bit of a drive but Lonestar Handgun down NE of San Antonio also has steel out to 300yd.

Reveille Peak Ranch has a 1000 yard range, not sure of the requirements to shoot there.

Any range that has a "No FMJ" rule would be a deal breaker for me, even if it is only for rifles.

Perfect description of Eagle Peak. I'm less than 10 minutes away and won't waste my time there.

Eagle Peak is a good range to work up handloads, you can stay out there all day if you like as it's never crowded during the week. if you are ino the tacticool range mindset with a case of Tula to burn, then you are going to be disappointed.

Fmj rifle rounds will ricochet more than sp poly tipped etc, there are homes out past there. Some Texas senator lives over there also.
