Shipping and for guns FFL kill almost everything on line. You can go to Academy and it's listed for more but with the Academy credit card and 5% off have it the same day for barely more in most cases. And when you can wait until Academy has a military/veterans discount day get it for even less.

Current price @ Academy is $4.99/50. Multiply 10X = $49.90. PSA is at $29.99. Shipping on 2 was $13. Still well under Academy even with a 15% discount. Plus, it's shipped to my door (no time or gas) and I don't have to use a store branded credit card of which I have no interest getting.

Academy does have decent deals from time to time but they have been slacking on ammo since 2020. Prices have been coming down but not as quickly as other retailers.

I try to keep my business local but I will not be taken advantage of. Academy Big Box does not fall under my small business LGS umbrella. YMMV.

I agree, you do have to pick the correct items. I was mainly referring to guns ultimately being just slightly more or cheaper. I know you can find FFLs for less than $40 but with a couple I have had problems with the $25 FFLs! Zero problems at Academy.

But using your example $49.90 X .85 = $42.42, $29.99 + $13 = $42.99. Cheaper at Academy with sales price and can get it instantly. But I do have to use my gas going however I go by Academy often so I can make several stops at the same time.

As stated in my original post, the deal gets progressively better if you buy multiple. Academy can only compete (with the theoretical 15% off) if one brick is purchased.

HSL Ammunition, reloader in Utah. Good google reviews, couple of complaints about packing. Production looked ok in their youtube vids, so gave it a try. $220/1k, $14.82 ship, found a code: 9off9mm, total $225.82.

Got it a couple weeks ago and looks like they took packing complaints to heart cause the square box was mummified in shipping tape. Inside I expected 4 bags of 250, got one big bag of 1k, no biggie to me.

Finally got to the range today. Shot fine, as good as Federal and Blazer brass mixed into the mags 50/50, accuracy and cycling.

It’s loose pack, but for the price I’ll take it. I’m not sure if I’ve ever used this brand before, so I hope it runs okay.
