Some pretty good discussion here. Good looking gun to be sure but some mixed opinions on it

Sorry, I did not see the original thread. Thanks

I held one in my lgs, for the money I think the Ruger PC9 is the better deal. However I don't think the Ruger has a wood stock option.

I much prefer the ruger pc. Available as a "pistol". Takedown so at least it's not always as big as say, an actual rifle.

While i certainly get the appeal of wood stocks and classic styling, modern attempts at it just always fall short for me. It's like getting in your car after someone else has driven it and the seat and mirrors are all messed up

Homesteader is a bit lighter than Ruger PCC. If you observe how thick Homesteader's barrel is, you know how heavy Ruger's takedown latch mechanism is. The plastic furniture and barrel flutes combined just about offset the penalty of the takedown.

One good feature Ruger has is the sight rail on top of the receiver. For Homesteader you have to buy an aftermarket rail. It takes Marlin 336 rails, but those are usually very long and I am not sure all of them will fit without conflicting with the rear sight. I'm thinking about getting one of these:
