Four Boxes Diner provides an interview with the author of America's Rifle: The AR-15 "... a major new historical account of the technology and law that developed around what has become America's favorite semi-automatic rifle. Historian and Constitutional Attorney Stephen Halbrook tells this powerful history in his newest work and scholarly contribution to the Second Amendment's right to keep and bear arms."

From the Military Arms Channel discusses facts and myths about the AR-15 which became the M-16. On a personal note as a Marine in 1960s-70s my first and brief encounter with the M-16 was at The Basic School as new 2dLT. The prior two years had mostly been with the M-14 and few months with M-1 at ITR. So off to Vietnam where I heard all the awful tales about the M-16 and told to not repeat them. Yes, there was a lack of cleaning equipment and proper maintenance instruction in-county. The rifle got better in 1968 with chrome chamber/barrel and cleaning equipment.

So those interested in a historical review of the rifle and how it has not changed that much you can better understand America's battle rifle for decades.
