Back in '06 maybe I purchased HK940 with Leupold VXII 4-12x 40mmAO scope with HK H5 quick release mount. On Tuesday my son and I went to American Shooting Center and purchased a one year membership and took 3 rifles previously unfired. The first rifle had firing pin or assembly problems, 2 second rifle had sight problems and the Hk940 was third. We were at the 50 yard range due to the not previously fired history. The first shot 4" low and 1.5" right(adj scope). 2nd shot 1" low(adj scope), 1" right; 3rd shot 1.5"low, .5" right(adj scope); 4th shot .75" high, .9" left; 5th shot same as 4th, 6th shot .75" high, .85" left, 7th shot same as 6th; adj scope 2 clicks right; 8th shot .75" high, .4" left(adj scope). A quarter all but covers all 5 rounds(4-8) (including the scope adjustment. 9th shot .25" high, .25" right. Stop shooting and adjusting until 100 or 200 yard range. Results achieved with Factory Remington 150 gr Core-Lokt Pointed Soft Pt. ammo the probably was $8 a box at time of production. I knew HK's had a reputation for accuracy, but, I am blown away with this rifles accuracy recoil. I used a lead sled to help maintain zero and the rifle has a reasonably decent trigger. I will try and post pictures. This was a hunter rifle at the time of acquisition and has been in my safe since. Previous to the HK940 I acquired a HK91 (1987) still unfired, no box or papers and a HK770 .308 (traded) (I have an extra ported barrel with receiver and 10 round magazine. I had never fired the HK770 and now wish that I had at least fired it and would probably still own.
