If you think you can’t understand folks from bawling, you should visit Lafayette. The Broussard side of my family lives there, Jules & Guy (pronounced Ghee) and I cant understand a damn thing they say when they get excited and start talking in their native ton goo.

Only one I ever heard who pronounced it PEE-CAN (when they weren't kidding around) was my position coach in HS football who always raved about his wife's homemade PEE-CAN pie. Of course if he was awake and not eating, he would undoubtedly have a massive chaw of Workhorse chewing tobacco in his mouth. Had a big picture of John Wayne mounted on his living room wall too.

What if they identify as peee cans and not p'kahns? Will all the other nuts storm the pantry with those little cocktail Forks if we mistakenly say p'kahns when they identify as peee cans? Calling us nutphobics?

It is the year 20twilight zone after all and were at the outer limits of reality.



Then again I ain't got enough finger toes and claws in my whole family to play the Marxist game show "look who's pissed now". Just cant keep up.
