    Hey y'all ,
As the title says i moved back to Texas after 15 yrs of being in Illinois.
See a lot has changed here in Houston area have a few questions if I may .
My brother is giving me a 9mm for my bday and Christmas this Friday I still haven't turned in my Illinois DL .

Can I still keep my gun loaded in my car until I get my TX DL ?
I'm waiting for my finance company to mail my paperwork for my car because I have a loan and can't get Texas plates just yet that's why I haven't switched my DL yet .
Also can someone explain the 30.06 and the other law for me ?
And is there any restrictions on ammo or shooting accessory's with a out of state DL ?
Sorry for the newb post but Illinois is so stupid with gun laws you can't buy ammo or anything gun related without a foid card .

    1. - yes. Concealed in the vehicle - not on your body unless you have LTC (license to carry - applies to both concealed & open carry).
    see here: https://www.dps.texas.gov/InternetForms/Forms/CHL-16.pdf
    2. 30.06 & 30.07 have to do with licensed carry on someone else's property. That'll be s'plained in your LTC.
    3. no- not Texas rules but of course Fed laws apply.
    Oh, & welcome to TGT.

Welcome back! What BRD said plus you don't need identification to buy ammo and accessories, unless of course you look like a kid.

    Howdy!

How would anyone from Texas voluntarily move to Illinois in the last 100 years?

Could this be a troll attack?

15 years ago a loaded gun in a car in Texas was not so simple as today as you say it was.

    Be well.

Welcome home! I can relate to your experience. I spent almost 10 years (2000-2010) NE of Cleveland, Ohio. I felt like a pork chop at a Bar Mitzvah up there. I was in dire need of Blue Bell, CFS, Barbecue and good looking women!

John Steinbeck said it best: "A Texan outside of Texas is a foreigner"
