Born and raised in China, finished my undergrad in the most gun-hating part of California. During my 21th birthday I ditched other's cliche scene of getting drunk in a bar, and got myself an AR15 lower.
When I found a job earlier this year and was asked if I want to relocate, I said "just get me out of California" - and fate and the offer landed me in Austin.
I guess some Texans might joke about my "commie" state origins :fire:

Back in CA, I had to jump through hoops with an 03FFL just to get ammo shipped home. But then I discovered the world of C&R firearms and fell in love with firearms built before the 20s (1920s, that is)... Texas seems like the perfect place for collectors

I love BBQ and I identify myself as a "meatrian" where I don't eat veggies; my hometown in China recently got famous for our BBQ and Texas is another BBQ heaven

Hopefully I could meet some new friends and potentially some old friends who managed to escape Cali. I look forward meeting all of you!

At what age did you move to the USA, and did you have other family who moved with you?
I came here when I was 18 by myself - hopefully I can stay here forever (legally, of course), yet I'm a "nonimmigrant" for now in the way that as of now I can't say I wanted to stay here forever to remain legal (just like one is not supposed to shoulder a pistol brace, at least in front of ATF agents!)

Welcome to TGT & to the Gulf South.

Please never forget WHY you wanted out of California.

Also, few in the Lone Star recognize individual Oriental nationalities or ethnicities; they’re just all lumped into “Chinese”. We had a friend in Houston from China. She ran a Chinese Restaurant, where folks often demanded sushi & tempura.
