Maybe the State of Texas should create a "volunteer" State Miliitia....

And if it came off as me thinking negatively toward the idea by using the word "spouting", it was not intended to. That very thought has been crossing my mind lately if the nutbags were to actually get everything they want.

I would prefer a more loosely organized neighborhood militia. Have connections and communication with other surrounding groups, but focused on our families, homes, streets, etc.

My neighbors are CandyAss Libatrds. I plan on stealing their food and eating them when the Zombies come .....

Carefully, if someone sees you eating your neighbor they may think YOU'RE a zombie.

We already have the Texas State Guard. Maybe revive and expand it?

I may be wrong on this but I found out about the TSG while I was still active duty and started researching into them as it sounded like something that would be very interesting to me. I had talked with a couple of their recruiters and asked quite a few questions and was told something along the lines of we do not conduct firearms training and primarily act as a supplement to the Texas National Guard during times of state emergency but unlike the NG we can not be called upon for national service and only stay within Texas (I'm paraphrasing).

That is what I found in all my research of them.

I believe they were primarily medical, support, office work(?), and something else that was completely non combat related.

Actually disregard slightly, its been awhile since I had talked to them and I found I still had some email traffic. This is directly copied from said email.

"All the material is on the internet, here is the website
(http://2nd-bn-tmar-state-tx.us/) or if that doesn't work type in 2nd BN
TMAR on your search engine you should be able to find our website
relatively easy. I encourage you request access and that way you can see
what we do. There are no printed materials because have no funding for
that.

We do qualify with our own small arms but bear in mind the TXSG is not
an armed force, we offer the Texas Concealed Handgun License at a
reduced price.

There are no MOS's we all do the same job for the most part and receive
the same training, of course the higher in the chain of command a person
is the more duties and responsibilities.

I don't mind answering your questions

MCPO(SW/AW/MEMS) Brad Westberry
2nd Battalion, TMAR, TXSG
Command Master Chief
(361) 776-6415 Home
(361) 563-7097 Cell"

There was more back and forth but I think this is the main part I was thinking of "We do qualify with our own small arms but bear in mind the TXSG is not
an armed force"

That's my understanding as well. Its not an armed militia per se, but they do train and provide first responder type services within Texas in the event of emergency. If Mexico ever invaded us (LOL) their mission might change, but probably not.

I still think it would be a good thing to consider for people who can invest / donate their time.

As a state, I'd expand my state guard service to everyone who wants it. Issue them full autos to store at home, then issue a blanket statement saying all private arms are now in use for the state of Texas.
Sort of like a lite version of the Swiss army? I like it...

Your 2A rights aren't dependent on a state sponsored militia, however.

Mexico would invade Texas at the drop of a hat. They want this land back (well, they mostly want the money that's sitting on it) badly.

They would invade with what???? The Mexican army, the cartels, which one could stand against and control Texas?

Maybe I underestimate the Mexican military but I don't think they could pull it off.

I don't either, but neither could Stalin's army when they invaded Finland.

Didn't stop them from trying.

Control? No, but they can certainly loot and pillage. The Mexican army and the cartels are only vaguely two different things at this point.

The hair brained theory was under the assumption that the Barry takes a poo on the constitution like he did with hobby lobby, or immigration policy.
