Anyone have any idea of the value of a Model 19-4 Pinned and Recessed Nickel 4”?

Best way to find out is to put it in the Classifieds.
Not here. Our Classifieds require a price be stated up front. The only thing you can learn is that if it sells in ten minutes, you priced it too low. If it never sells, you priced it too high.

GunBroker members can access advanced search features for closed auctions. The closed 19-4 4" nickel auctions I see this morning sold for $855, $754, $715 and $468.

There was one with a broken rear sight with a starting bid of $839; it received no bids.

I note that sales seem a bit too dependent on the quality of the photos and the ability of the ad writer to successfully hype his wares. That $468 revolver didn't look much worse than the others but the seller put NO effort into writing the ad.

It was my intention to correlate my response with "the free market will decided". But yes, gunbroker, truegunvalue, and BBOGV are always good starting points.

Call S&W to get a little history on that 19. Was the nickle factory or aftermarket. It will make a difference to some.

    Gunz are icky.
IMO, your gun is worth about $700.
Nickel guns, unless mint condition, generally bring less than blued models. Yours looks quite worn.
Yours has a pretty visible turn ring. The timing might be off. This affects value.
The M19’s also suffer from cracked barrels on the forcing cone. It’s a design defect.
This hugely affects the value. Each gun must be thoroughly inspected to determine its condition.
The 4” barrel is very common. The snubbie version brings a lot more $.

Uh, factory finish will determine deal or no-deal to anyone who knows anything about them.

An easy way to tell us if the hammer & trigger have the factory-original case-hardened finish, which the picture shows. Also the extractor star should be blued.

S&W isn’t going to tell you squat over the phone. You would have to pay $100 and get it lettered to know exactly the exact original configuration, when it left the factory and where it went.

Value is determined by three things:
    Condition
    Condition
    Condition

Your gun looks fairly decent, though nickel is hard to judge by photos.

I’d WAG it about $800 in the current market.

But who knows. It’s crazy out there
