Should I get a LTC?

Interesting. They're supposed to require a Texas DL - since the LTC card is accepted as proof of residency for voting.

Having a TX DL is not a requirement. All I needed to prove residency was my mortgage statement, banking statement, and utility bills in my name and address.
I know that there are out of state residents who also have a TX LTC, residency is not a prerequisite to hold one. A few that I know of are Lousiana residnets who visit the state on a regular basis.

Not as far as the state/feds are concerned. It may qualify you for some manufacturer's LE/Mil price discounts.

Yes. Constitutional carry is backdoor gun control. Virtually every penalty for carrying w/o a LTC is a 3rd degree felony. As has been pointed out, you can forego the NICS check when you buy a new gun, and most non-communist states have reciprocity and will recognize your LTC if you travel.

Learning the laws, NICS exemption, and reciprocity in other states are more than sufficient reasons to get your TX LTC.

Some stores may give a discount for veterans, but it doesn't help when it comes to the paper-work! Also an LTC can help prevent problems in gun free zones.

Campus Carry, avoid background checks, out-of-state travel, gun-free school zones, cool factor. Violations while carrying are only Class C misdemeanors just subject to fine, like a traffic ticket.
