Slug shotgun info needed

Was looking at the Mossberg 590A1 Tactical Pump-Action with the 20” barrel, anyone use this or have any input for this as a slug gun? i like the 20” barrel as a compromise vs a much longer, so it would be more maneuverable, anyone have any thoughts or alternate ideas?

My personal preference is a Remington 870, 20" barrel with rifle or ghost ring sights. I currently own two 870s with 20" barrels and rifle sights.

The ghost ring is big, really big, but it still works well out to 100 yards.

Either the 18.5 or the 20 will work well.

no longer a fan of the 870. I have an 870 super mag that crapped out after some 3.5” 00buck shells

Mossberg 590A1 is an excellent slug gun. I have the 18.5" model. Works well with mini shells too with a Critical Defense mini shell adapter.

Because not everyone's completely familiar with all shotgun options...

I don't mess with slugs, because I don't know what kind of choke my 870 has, or if a slug would damage it. Plus, I'm happy with .00 buck. But if I were to decide to shoot some slugs, I'd need to look up which kind to get because it's just not a regular concern for me.
