If you know how to 'cast' your phone to your tv, problem solved.
I can, but my wife is a "Technology Anti-Christ" and there's no way she could do it.

All of the services seem to offer everything I don’t want to watch, but little or none of what I do want to watch.

We are on the “Beta” list for Elon Musk’s satellite based ”Star-Link” for a couple years, but nothing yet.

    see: https://www.prestigeonline.com/sg/lifestyle/gadgets/elon-musk-starlink-everything-we-know/

Yet, anticipate StarLink having “packages” cleverly designed to force us to buy a bunch of crap we don’t want.

While in “theory”, competition should result in better consumer choices, so-far that hasn’t really happened.

As Ma Bell learned decades back, getting a “line” into a home grants opportunities for petty extortion.

And, as others have noted here, using multiple streaming services results in layers of overlapping & confusing control systems.

Starlink is no longer in Beta for over a year now. Are you in a zone that isn't available yet, by chance? I have the "mobility" version of Starlink for travel use. I can tell you that it's great. It's a bit pricey, but it has worked everywhere from North Texas to the UP (Michigan far north), all the way to southern Maine. As long as you have a line of sight with no instructions to the northern sky from the dish.

Being the mobility version, I had to pay like $600 upfront for equipment, which sucked...

Home use should be cheaper up front for equipment, though.

Yes, we are in a marginal zone. We were told that we could begin paying the monthly fee, but there was no guarantee that the service would be adequate here, and we’d have to keep paying or lose our place.

Sorry to hear re expensive. IIRC, we were originally told, a few years back, that our TV, internet & 2 cell phones would be aorund $25/month.

Yeah, unfortunately, I would drop the TV and phone part out of the equation. For the phone, all they did was "partner" with T-Mobile, and you need specific hardware and phones to make it work. While cool, it's certainly nowhere near $25/mo. I pay $150/mo for internet alone... and there aren't plans that are really any cheaper. I would only pursue Starlink for residential if you had no hardwired services, and no traditional wireless services available. If you are in a 5G cell service area, that's the route I would take. If not and something like NextLink isn't available near you, then I'd go Starlink. I don't have any regrets for my situation, but it's not the right route for everyone.

Roku is just the magic box, it's 'free' offerings do not stack up to those with a monthly fee.
As to Roku, it is better than Walmart's Onn and Google's android box which really is super slow.
I've not tried the Amazon fire stick. or Apple's.

One of my Roku's I had to retire recently due to the remote eating batteries every 4 days. Got a new Roku 4 ($100) which is great and supports all the new .265 videos off my local media server/s. Intreresting that Amazon does not carry many Roku devices I suppose due to competition with their own.
I have Roku and Firestick. They are both comparable to each other, except that fire stick also lets me watch the free stuff that comes with my Prime membership. Outside of OAN, it’s the only streaming service I pay for. No Netflix in this house

Smart TV is the way to go. One remote does it all. They are getting unbelievably inexpensive.
And here I am, looking at dumb TVs because I don't want to be stuck with features that will become outdated or another device that can listen to me and report back to the mothership.
