This weekend the Museum of the American GI held there spring History in Motion event in College Station. Me and my wife went down today and had a blast. Shermans, Stewarts, M113s, Hellcats, and even some German equipment. Lots of reenactment groups there with tents set up offering up knowledge from the civil war through WW2. Anyone interested in military history should stop in if they ever pass through the area. It's a small place that's just packed full of cool stuff.
    Museum of the American GI

We did have to leave a little early because lunch from the food truck wasn't settling very well. I was pretty torn, but decided I was just gonna have to miss the WW2 tank skirmish. Gonna try to do a photo dump and see how many I can upload. Have some video that I'll edit and try to post up also, might be tomorrow.

I asked the guys doing the German display about the sign. Said they don't have trouble often but there have been a couple times people started shit. Seems ridiculous to me. We talked about Pazerfausts and Panzerschrecks.

I asked about the pull handle on the side of the Chaffee thinking it was some sort of fire suppression. It's actually for firing the main gun when using the tank for indirect fire in an improvised artillery role.

Tanks lines up near the reenactment field, M4A3, Chaffee, M4A1. The 2 shermans were both built in 1944. One runs on a Pratt and Whitney Radial, the other on twin V8s. Allisons IIRC. Both feed in to a single transmission, they don't operate independently for each track (I asked).

German halftrack again, side shot of M4A3, M10 Hellcat. another M10 Hellcat

Hellcat booty. Couple of parting shots of the line. And the last is a group riding on the M4A1, heavily cropped from across the field. Not sure how it ended up at the end.

Meant to go yesterday but didn’t remember until yesterday afternoon. My son and I went a couple of years ago, lots of fun.

Took my son a few years back for his birthday and got him a Sherman ride. We had a blast.

This year he said he didn't want to go. Then saw the pictures and asked where they were from. Then got upset that he didn't go, lol.

I also stopped by the Museum of the American GI last August after a TXSG conference in College Station, it is a really cool place and I am sure their events are worth the trip!!
