Yep. Prior transplants who came in 80s/90s and helped flip Texas Red came for freedom.

Current transplants are basically just following there job and bringing their politics with them.

Over generalization yes, but statistically it is happening
That’s the thing, I think it’s flipping again.

Early 2000s I saw a lot of lefty Californians selling their houses and moving to Tx for cheap land and good economy, but still Californians.

Now it seems I see more and more trying to escape California and come to Texas because they are right leaning and want to escape the rampant leftist policies.

    Yep.
IME in the early 80's, the daily rush hour in Houston had almost as many Florida and New York license plates heading from and to the suburbs as Texas plates.

I’m starting to see changes in the demographics when it comes to natives be transplants.

Admittedly, I haven’t done a full blown peer reviewed study. But it seems there are more young native Texans leaning left and more conservative minded people moving to the state to escape tyranny.

And by no means am I saying all young natives or all transplants fit these categories. Just a trend that I see, with my limited data set.

I don't think the left-leaning tendencies across the younger generation is unique to Texas, that seems to be the case across the country.

However, it will likely have an impact on the color of this state unless the trend is reversed.

Obviously, these are generalizations but that's exactly what trends tend to be!

It is evident by Millennials/Gen Y and now Gen Z and eventually Gen Alphas as they become voting age. Their priorities are much different from us Gen X/Baby Boomers. It accounts for the wokeness, lack of desire to serve the country, and a focus on oneself over the good for all (self-entitlement, in direct conflict with socialism!).

The country is evolving (and not in a good way) thanks to how its leadership is "shaping" the future!

I am not sure that trend can or ever will be reversed even if Trump wins in November!

The only positives right now are that Gen Z seems to be unhappy with the restrictive culture that younger millennials (and older to some extent) pushed. They want to make edgy joke and have fun without having their lives ruined for it.

While they do tend to be more in favor of things like legalized marijuana and fairly neutral on other issues (abortion)…there’s a strong tendency towards libertarianism which is pushing many away from the modern left.

I wouldn’t say it’s a conservative generation, but I don’t think it’s really buying in to the modern equity/DEI belief system either.

Twenty something states had concealed carry before Texas.
Twenty states had constitutional carry before Texas.
You couldn’t own an automatic knife until 2017.
You still can’t carry a knife with a blade longer than 5.5”

I’d say we are about right in the middle.
Yeah when I first moved to Texas I was surprised by all of that. Didn't fit the idea I had in my head. We've fix all that now, tho.

Texas has some of the best use of force laws in the country, and grand juries generally have their head on straight (with the exception of the big metro areas). Weapon friendliness is kind of pointless if you can't legally use them.

Also numbers 17-25 all have the same score, so technically they are all tied for 17th.
I thought they changed the rules on knives. No?

Sorry, I should have said you are completely free from government oppression to carry a knife with a blade longer than 5.5”, as long as it’s not in:

    Courthouses

Airports past Security Screening (all knives are already prohibited by TSA)

    Racetracks

Within 1,000 feet of the premises where an Execution is being conducted, if posted

"Study" aside, sometimes Texas isn't as Texas as Texans think it is. This is one of those times.
