my Wife and a gal she works with got talkin' pistol shooting last week and they decided to hit the range together - today was the day. I went along to be the guy on the back bench, loading empty mags for them (tho I did have to go thru a couple of mags....;) )

the gal brought an older Colt 1911 and a couple of other pistols - she said she likes shooting .45 best so I took a couple of my .45s (NH & GI), plus my STI .40 - also took my Wife's EB 1911 9mm

she hadn't been shooting in quite a while but she did pretty darned well. we went thru a lot of ammo and all had a good time

another great day "on the range" - we agreed to do it again when all have time to go for a beer and lunch afterwards

While my daughter was growing up, she joined me at the range often. I wasted a few thousand dollars during that time trying to find something she liked to shoot. During one range visit [when she was 20 or 21 years old] she asked if she could shoot my Springfield Loaded .45 ACP. I was a little hesitant, but I let her a clip with five rounds and let have a go at it. Turns out after the five rounds were shot she turned to me with a huge grin and said "I love it!" When Christmas rolled around, I gave her a Remington R1.

This makes my reloading much simpler since we both shoot the same round, finally.
If your woman that shoots a 1911, next time you go to the range watch the guys around you. I think it is so funny to see the expression on their faces when they see a woman shooting a "macho man's gun". My daughter is now 27 and has three children. If I am not on my game, she will out shoot me every time.

Oh by the way, if you want to shoot a hand cannon, try a 6" S&W Model 29 with factory ammo. When you go back to your 1911, you will probably consider it pretty mild.

my Wife bought herself a Ruger LCR .357mag - that's "hand cannon" enough for me - I'll only shoot .38spec (normal) thru it myself - .357 actually hurts my wrist

    and then

her last purchase was a S&W 686+ - it's back to the Smithie now, she hated the trigger (springs change but caused many lite strikes)

I don't reload so many different calibers are "ok" with me

Women tend to make the best students with guns. They did not play with toy guns as children, so they don't have a bunch of silly notions that have to be unlearned.

    Good job sir, carry on!

IMO it's the compactness of the LCR that is hurting your wrist. If you try a larger frame like the GP100, it's a lot easier on you.

Not sure how that happened. The phrasing sucks.
