Getting ready for the match next week.


I have been shooting the Wednesday night idpa matches for the pistol


Have confirmed zero on the rifle with the freedom munitions 69gr ammo, chrono'd it and programmed shooter on my phone.


I just rigged the ELS system and retrofitted the Otto shotshell caddies.


Spent 3 hours practicing loading my benelli while catching up on this season of justified.


Something about loading 25 dummy shot shells while watching Justified . . .




Planning on a couple of range days this week before we leave for best of the west range.

I can only take the shotgun out to 50... Have to find someone that'll let me lob those slugs farther out.

Also need to figure out the long range rifle thing. It sounds like my guessing method probably won't cut it for very long...

10 that's it? Anything smaller than a full size Ipsc past 50 gets a shell throw it's way as fast as possible by hand!

It takes you ten seconds to fire one shot at a fairly large target 50+ yards away?

Wow.

I ran my usual slow-ass transitions and took four in four, same as in practice at distance slug targets. If I shot four "random" shots in 3/4s and ate the 40 second penalties, that would have added 13-odd seconds to my final stage time if I quit that first second (instead of going on to hit the other 20-odd targets, pistol and shotgun mixed)...

Man up and aim

It was a pretty easy match, and the first non-club match I've shot in a while that I shot without penalty (no misses, no penalty targets, no proceedurals). Which means I shot too damn slow

Aim? This is 3 gun. I don't have sights on any of my guns.

Seriously though, I have shot 60 slugs through my barrel this week trying to get the aiming to actually work. I'll probablky shoot 60 more too. Slugs have been haunting me becaseu my barrel has a bend in it from the factory. Check it out.

I read the entire manual that came with my Benelli nad nowhere did it specify which type of tree to whack my barrel against to make it shoot straight. I'll go read it again.

Mesquite is generally the preferred type.

Went to psc on Tuesday and confirmed zero out to 300.

Worked the plate rack with the shotgun.

Wed. Went to the impact zone and zeroed the shotgun with the Remington 1oz sluggers 1560 fps at 100yd.
