The " Selling Pistols to Individuals" Thread. Not for exactly for the poster being tired of the thread, but because it had served its purpose some time ago and was nothing but contentious drivel,
Exactly. I hadn't read it in a couple of days and was in that process when Ben beat me to locking it.

While I understand what you are saying, I don't think that's what actually happened in this instance.

    Well lets have a look

Yeah. That did catch my notice and I felt that referencing his request was just a nice thing to do. I appreciate folks who try to steer me toward recognizing problems that I may not have previously seen.

I appreciate it when people point out "situations" to me via posting in a thread, dropping me a PM, or hitting the report button. In this case, any of those methods would have produced the same result.

Also, at the time I began composing my post locking the thread half of the previous 8 posts had been folks munching popcorn or taking a seat to watch the fireworks. That's a pretty obvious and long-recognized tip-off that a thread is devolving into nothing but divisive spectacle. Threads like that need to stop. (Exceptions are made when weighty issues are at hand but for well-trodden ground like doing a BOS for a private sale, that doesn't come into play.)

Let me be clear. The thread wasn't locked because Coiled suggested it. It was locked because it needed to be.

Coiled just brought it to my attention.
