For the political junkies on this forum you can watch this video of Assemblyman Brian Bergen (R-Morris) [THE GOOD GUY] taking aim {pun intended :machine:)at dems bill to restrict concealed carry gun permits at an Assembly Appropriations Committee hearing Thursday with its sponsor, Assemblyman Joe Danielsen (D-Somerset). Great setup when Mr. Bergan tells the bill's sponsor he will vote no for the bill.

This should be warning even here in Texas and other states not to allow liberals/leftists to get any political power to control/restrict 2A. Even one can make a difference. Does anyone remember the former TX Speaker of the House who prevented the constitutional carry bill from getting voted on. We had to wait two more years before getting the law changed. Elections do matter and you can vote right now to make a difference.

Assemblyman Bergen is fighting the good and necessary fight to protect 2A in a blue state. I have no doubt the bill will be become law with the liberals controlling the assembly and the governor's house. And then it will be years of court battles before they can get their rights back.

If you watch Assemblyman Danielsen when asked (11:30) where a concealed firearm can be carried in the 'Garden State' with this law in effect he doesn't answer. Because there won't be any except your residence.

It's NJ... I left a Jewish RKBA WhatsApp group because between the stupidity NY was doing and the stupidity that NJ was doing I was getting over 1,000 messages per day and it was clogging my phone. The constant assault against people's rights is astounding, they don't even try to hide it - there's no pretense of crime control any more!
Thankfully, the Texas Constitution limits the legislature, and gives disproportionate representation to rural areas, so it isn't as much of a concern here - but it is a concern.

More of the sausage making in NJ with audio of a committee hearing and commentary by Colion Noir.

"What you will hear in the video is New Jersey Assemblyman John F. McKeon essentially saying, "I don't want poor black people to have the right to carry guns in New Jersey."

Continue listening to hear the details on racial makeup and poverty % of cities mentioned. The final insult at end is when Assemblyman McKeon says passing what would be an unconstitutional bill is OK.

“Coming up with reasonable regulation, I can’t guarantee that it will be constitutional at all.”

Do bad NJ voters and those who support 2A don't have more like New Jersey Republican Sen. Mike Testa. Here is a recent interview with him discussing gun safety laws in the first part. I would think he would vote no on the bill discussed earlier in this topic.

Here is another heroine in NJ assembly telling the politicians who voted for this bad bill you are wasting taxpayer money when you fight to save it in court.

"Assemblywoman Vicky Flynn, an attorney, has argued repeatedly that the concealed carry ban bill as written is unconstitutional, and will eventually be struck down by the courts after a costly legal battle paid for by New Jersey taxpayers, before a vote was taken. The bill (A4769) passed 43-29 along party lines at the state Assembly voting session Monday, Nov. 21, 2022."

The dems in NJ know that elections matter and they have the vote for bad 2A laws. And no one can stop them from putting it into effect and will remain so for years until maybe state/federal courts will overturn it.

Grinch (aka NJ Gov Phil Murphy) about to deny any 2A presents to responsible lawful gun owners before Christmas.

"Some things never change, even in the face of a Supreme Court decision that informed lawmakers they’ve been violating the constitutionally-protected rights of their constituents. A majority of legislators (and the governor as well) are just as hostile to the right to keep and bear arms today as their predecessors in the past."

“It’s got to be naïve to think that people don’t have a right to protect themselves,” Assemblyman Hal Wirths said after reading headline after headline about crimes reported throughout the Garden State..." Well said, Mr. Wirths. Just not enough folks like you in the NJ assembly.

    As to be expected in a liberal/leftist state;
"The bill (A4769) passed 43-29 along party lines at the state Assembly voting session Monday, Nov. 21, 2022."

The Grinch (aka NJ Gov Phil Murphy) brought a lump of coal to all the lawful responsible gun owners and those wanting to carry outside the home. Not unexpected the Dems pass the 'carry killer' bill and Gov signed it. Just about making the entire state of NJ a gun free zone (aka sensitive places).

"Gov. Phil Murphy signed a sweeping bill into law on Thursday morning that makes most of the state off-limits to lawful carry while raising the cost of mandated fees and imposing a new insurance requirement on all concealed carry licensees."

With NJ, NY and OR's new laws passed after the SCOTUS Bruen decision the leftist states are lifting the BIG middle finger at the Supreme Court over 2A. Long-term they are going to resist the Court's decision and deny 2A to their residents as long as possible. The fight in the courts has already started.

This is where the founders f’d up by not giving the judicial branch am enforcement capability. It one sense it was a utopian concept; in others, pure Machiavelli.

If there’s anything that will lead to the a fall of the union, that will be it. And it will be disguised as a state’s right to defy on intra-state matters/10A grounds.

    Good discussion.

I do want to point out that the Second Amendment does NOT give a right.

The Second Amendment restricts state from infringing upon a right that exists regardless of state.

From the Bearing Arms blog a federal judge blocks enforcement of many parts of NJ's new carry restrictions.

From this forum many of the blue states that enacted new anti-2A laws are having lots of problems and challenges in court. Which is a good thing. It will take awhile for all this to go through the federal court system. More likely faster to get this fixed by courts than changing the legislatures/governors of blue states to stop/reverse making bad gun laws.

This entire deal is B-S, Colion Noir is great.

I can’t speak to other states on this one point; but, many SLAVES in pre-1861 South Carolina and Louisiana kept guns and ammo in their homes. I know that doesn’t “fit” what we have been led to believe, but it is fact.

Doug, I never understood just how one person’s OPINION could negate other citizens’ enumerated Constitutional RIGHTS.
