Congrats on the new ride. Sounds like a good deal.
Advice? Sign up for and do a track day - goes for EVERYONE who rides. Yea, I know - "I'm not interested in racing" and "I been riding xx years and I know what I'm doing" and "b;ah-blah-blah." BS. At a track day:
1) NO cars, SUV's, 18-wheelers, etc swapping lanes.
2) Everyone is going the same direction - no oncoming traffic.
3) You can begin to learn the loimits of your bike - so when / if you need to approach them on the street, you can.
4) Professional good riders to help you.
5) You're in full protective gear.
6) If all else fails, there is an EMT crew right there at the track.
I have seen HD 1200's and such at the track - just ride your own ride and LEARN STUFF.
THere are several round - but a decent one is www.ridesmart.info
And get food gear - that fits. Heads come in different shapes (oval, round, wide, etc.) - so find a helmet that fits your head. Boots, too (some are on a racing last - narrow, but others are wider in the same sizes). GLoves. Jacket and pants. Back protector.
So take it seriously - and be a professional. Enjoy it!
