I think it is great that CO takes in the homeless from other states. They can have all of ours from Texas.

you got the weather working against you with that thought. We see an influx about thanksgiving each year from snow-bird homeless, who ride the bus to southern areas out of places like St Louis & Denver to spend the winter here.

I notice it every year. Abilene didn't have but 1/10th the homeless population until they started catering to them years ago.

God forbid if they legalize pot here.

I thought Austin had ALL of the homeless.

It's going to get legalized whether you like it or not. The government has no business telling us what we cannot do with a plant. It's only a matter of time. These Elmer fudd guys sound like the gun grabbers "there will be blood flowing in the streets" types.

    Elmer Fudd types?

No. The facts are...guns make us safer.

The facts also show that weed use makes people lazy. Gov promoting laziness? Hmmm wonder why they'd want that?

    Promoting?

I still see gov funded anti-drug PSAs.

Bacon ultimate cheeseburgers make me lazy, and probably have a larger negative effect on my health than a joint would. Should they be illegal?

Yep. On one hand they preach against it. On the other they are profiting from it in many ways.

Yes. Your absolutist argument is 100% what I am saying. The gov has to regulate and control everything or nothing. You got me.

Im for some drug penalties being reduced. I am against how eagerly people are clamoring for the right to do drugs...and how ready some in gov are to recognize that "right".

This is a social experiment in Colorado. It is interesting to watch unfold.

First of all with regards to "pot making you lazy".....correlation =/= causation. Trust me I've known plenty of lazy pot heads and I'm under the firm belief they weren't raised to have drive in their lives and would be lazy bums regardless of their pot use. I've also known almost as many hard working and fairly to very well to do people that enjoyed pot just the same as successful people that enjoy a fancy brew or fine wine.

What you are saying is equal to saying that anyone who drinks alcohol, even gets drunk every once in a while, is an asshole. Yes many drunks are assholes but not because of drinking per say. Many were assholes before and will still be assholes even after they quit drinking.

You only hear about the lazy ones because they have some weird fixation with proclaiming that they are lazy pot heads to all the world. Legalizing pot isn't going to turn anymore people into lazy slobs that aren't already (and dear God are there plenty of them in this country). And regardless there are other social contructs that do a better job of rewarding hard work and dissuading laziness than government could ever hope to do.

And as to the part about it being a right, I think it is...something about "Pursuit of life, liberty and happiness". Nobody can tell another person what happy means to them, even if it's not a real happiness for life. Hardly anybody seems to have a problem with people who eat certain foods because they make them happy or taking prescriptions because they make them happy or *gasp* squeezing the trigger of their AR because it makes them happy. Just let people pursue their own version of happiness, granted just as much as you guys, I don't want them persuing said happiness on my dime.

Too long. Didn't read. Skimmed and found expected libertarian response. That is fine.

Im not some wildly pro drug war guy. I can listen to the argument about growing what you want on your land.

Why aren't the "libertarians" against the gov profiting from all of this "legalization"? Why is this considered some great victory? Gov is regulating this industry and taxing it. Freedom!?

Somehow I knew you would be first to repsond BC, and of course your canned "libertarian dreaming" response is also what I expected

It is certainly constitutional for the states to tax commerce, so honestly in theory I don't have so much of a problem with it. Granted I'd rather them not tax the tar out of it like CO is doing. They go too overboard with it and they will drive prices back above the black market and let the cartels slip their hands back into the game. As of right now though it is certainly pissing the cartels off. Just from CO and WA they have lost so much revenue they are turning more towards kidnapping for ransoms. While in the short term this seems terrible, I consider it the beginings of the death throws of the cartels which is ultimately a good thing. If we continue to strike blows against them eventually they will be whittled down to size and most of their members will just become common criminals that will be more easily locked up when they won't have the bribing power of the cartels behind them. They will probably also weed themselves out at they kill eachother for control of ever decreasing market shares.

Personally, I would be ok with the legalization of all drugs IF all of the gov safety nets were removed.

I think seeing the real consequences of becoming a crack head would do more to lower drug use than PSAs will ever do. Destroy your life, die in the gutter.

That is the issue for me as well. If you want to destroy your life, have at it. But don't expect me and other taxpayers to pick up the pieces. You want me out of your life? Easy, don't use my tax $.
Why arent libertarians rallying around a reduction of government? Is an expansion of rights, rights regulated controlled and taxed by gov an expansion of rights at all?

Sometimes change comes in a tidal wave, more often in many small ripples.

The important thing is to keep the current moving in the right direction.

Dang...It's cold out and I gotta pour the bong water out. I pour it on the wondering Jews in the yard. No good dirty Jew plants. But Damn if they don't love the stinky stinky water.....of a smoky bong.

Wait a minute. This thread was about people's freedom to ingest what the flip they want.....Or is it?

Can't tell...there's too much smoke hanging around for me to properly read this thread.

    My bad, guys

Break, you're good people. A bit old fashion...But Damn good people. Consider me a genuine friend.

Lol, just don't hate so much....a plant made by God. If you wanna blame anybody, blame him. He created it from the emptiness of the universe. On the 8th day. God needed to chill out. He willed a medicinal plant.

    And it was SO.
