I'm the second from the left.

I had a great time and it was good to meet all of you. Next time I will bring a .22 to run the dueling tree and formed ammo so that my ARs will run without having to drop the first one in and having 2-3 stoppages per mag (sorry about that subsea!).

Good deal Ben, looks like a great time. Got some names to go along with these ugly mugs?

With thanks to Curtis for jogging my memory, left to right are -

Vance (aka Mr. Splits-Bullets-On-Axes), HandgunHTR, jaspaq13, MetalCutter, Glockster69, MetalCutter's son, subseashooter, smittyb, benenglish. The picture was taken by one of the locals, a lovely lady who offered to help, completely unbidden. The only bad part of that is that puts me in the picture. My apologies to everyone for that slip-up. :)

I have a video in mp4 format that I'd like to show up the same way YT vids properly linked display, how do I do that? I have a photobucket & imgur account.

Theoretically, you can upload it to photobucket and then use the photobucket tag to embed it here. That never works for me.

If you want to upload it to your photobucket account and PM me the link, I can put it on youtube for you.

Or you can just create your own youtube account.

    Ya gots lotsa options.

    Awesome time guys!!!

Thanks again to Glockster for getting us all together and heading up this shoot'n match.

I brought a buddy along...gotta poke him with a sharp stick to get him on the forum, but after a particular shot was made, he said he was in. :D

But I'll let someone else tell that story.....

And it was damn good seeing everyone. I believe that it was said that this was the biggest turnout ever. The Good Lord gave us a gorgeous day, and I got to play with some really cool toys!!

Thanks again to everyone that made it out!!!

And you slackers that didn't.....well....maybe next time. :p

Thanks for the photos, looks like you guys had a great time.

AAMOF, y'all are such handsome devils (except for G69, of course) that I won't feel bad trying to make the next one, just to average things out.

Be good to get back, have fond memories of Madison County back in my worthless days.

This is going to be random but that's how conversations go -

I was talking to John and who else when the subject of 90-degree ammo storage came up? Somebody asked about the origins of the magazine design of the PS90 and I was fairly sure I'd seen other designs where the magazine holds ammo at 90-degrees to the barrel but I couldn't remember details. It's bothered me since yesterday so I did some research.

H&K's M11 did it that way, so that's a real rifle implementing the idea where the design dates to 1968. Prior to that, there was a 1923 U.S. patent (# 1,451,339) for a feeding system that turned the ammo 90 degrees at feeding but I don't find where anyone ever built the thing.

I could have sworn I once read about something earlier but I've come up short. Even without that, though, I think we reached the right conclusion that most of what passes for new in firearms tech has been done before.

To everyone else - Yes, I know this post is weird and random but sometimes I get a question or idea stuck in my head and I just can't shake it.

Lol!! I was loading a PS90 mag and visiting with you when I asked you about that.

    Excellent conversation, and great points!!

Food for thought though - even if you come up with an idea that someone else has already cooked up, that doesn't mean that you don't have a new or innovative way to apply the idea. :)

I set up the split-a-bullet target and immediately the naysayers went to jaw jackin'. *You've never done it* they said. *Pics or it didn't happen* they said. I pulled out my mobile computing device and showed them the video from Hicksville.

It seems Vance has formed a precision trilateral agreement between his eyes, hands, and firearm. Here is his 1st attempt with what I'd call a semi-wadcutter .38.

Very nice work my new friend! Yesterday was so awesome.

One of my favorite data points from the day was when I shot some .22LRs over the chrono using subseashooters Ruger LCR.

The first was that Eley Tenex I got from my Secret Santa. (Thanks again, btw.) The velocities obtained were 846, 845, 838, 849, and 850 feet per second. The average was 846 feet per second with an extreme velocity spread of 12 feet per second, or just 1.4% of the average.

The second was some bulk-pack Remington Golden Whatevers. The Remington velocities were 797, 780, 826, 798, 798, and 620 feet per second; average was 770 feet per second. It showed an extreme velocity spread of 206 feet per second, or 26.8% of the average speed!

I imagine that both would do better out of a longer barrel; snubbies aren't the easiest way to get consistent numbers. Still, it was a dramatic example of the difference between good quality ammo and crap ammo.

Not that people expect much more than BANG from Golden Whatevers but I didn't expect that much of a spread. lol

And only 1.4% on the Tenex? If I'm ever going to have the 5rd single whole group, looks like I'm going to have to buy some. How do you set up a GoFundMe account? :p

MAN it was a great day! More random thoughts ...

    - Thanks for helping me sight in the Buck Mark metalcutter. (And for not revealing that embarrassing secret.)
    - Vance brought SxS 12 gauge, those are always fun .. until the next day. ;)
    - subseashooter is always bringing the odd and sometimes the nice. Odd, SRM 1216; nice, SVI Infinity in 10mm. I should say VERY nice!
    - Ben had the 35 Remington pistol. So stunning the 1st time I asked for a 2nd. I had just re-hung the steel plates which turned out to be a waste of energy. LoL
    - Not sure who made it but smittyb always brings a 22 rifle that seems light and he has a blast with. I need to find something similar.

I'm sure I'm leaving things out, simply put 10 guys on the range with some nice toys and great weather! This summed it up well ...

My son & I had a great time! Great weather, great bunch of guys, cool collection of "fishing weights" and some good and not so good shooting! You want anymore than this for a Sunday in January, you're just getting greedy. Nice meeting everyone and thanks to everyone who let us try out their fishing gear.
