5 years of my life, top ranking performance, and they didn't even have the respect to do it face to face. Speakerphone nonetheless! Cowards!

Guess side business is no longer side business, except it don't cover bills just yet.

Is it weird to be disappointed in the company that let you go, not for actually letting you go (I'm a capitalist, I understand it), but for the way they did it? Is there no honor or integrity left in anything?

    Sorry to hear that.
If it's corp., not much honor or itegrety left. Been declining since the sixties when idiots started thing that college books contained all the knowledge you needed.

ATY that sucks man. It seems like these days it does not matter if you are a top performer. I had a best friend that spent 8 years with a company and has his name on some patents and then one day with no notice bam they call it a reduction in force. He calls it getting fucked. Good luck and hope you find something quick.

That's shitty. No one deserves to be treated that way. Face to face is the only way to ethically let someone go unless there's some very rare major incident/emergency.

I remember when Tandy sent out emails to a bunch of people in Ft Worth a while back. Ridiculous.

Appreciate it. One of the guys is on vacation at a Caribbean Island. He was notified via text message... I can't make this up. Multi billion dollar company.

Sorry to hear it good luck. I had kinda same thing happen to me worked at company for 15 years. My incompetent manager had to get the guy from HR to tell me. Didn't have the grit to do it himself.

They couldn't even wait for him to get home? That's low.
Ha! They didn't even tell him. He found out because someone we used to work with sent a group text saying sorry you guys got let go! He called me pissed asking if it was true. They wouldn't spend international long distance!

Sorry to hear, I went thru something similar

Chicken - shit co. , when I hired in they were bragging about never having to down-size blah blah blah

I came to work mon morn at 0500, badge didn't work, got let in, log on didn't work hhhmmm

0900 boss calls me in, um yeah your contact shop should have called and told you fri. ..

Worse was that we we're supposed to be moving locations, lead came by the cube farm and hinted that some off us should pack or personal stuff. ...he knew we were about to get laid off, didn't have the balls to tell me to my or the others face

The week before they called my buddy who was vacationing in Hawaii and told him the fri before he was headed back, they couldn't wait till mon. Morn

    I work in oil&gas engineering

Sorry to hear that, bro. I've been through that a few times, but at least the Gov had the decency to let me see it coming with plenty of advance notice.

If you're not using it already, go stop by the Texas Workforce Commission. They'll help you set up a profile and get you in touch with local employers.
