If this was and IQ test I'd score moron.

Pre-ban Colt AR-15 I bought new in box in 1978 for $175 and traded it for a Remington 742 chambered in 30.06. The guy I traded with still laughs about that one. :banghead:

    Sold a Smith & Wesson 586, 6", nickel, .38/.357mag to a buddy of mine.

Years later I was trying to sell Ruger Blackhawk revolver .44mag. He trade the S&W back to me for the Ruger. I got lucky.

I can't remember whether it was my cap and ball 44 or my 30-30. The 44 went back and forth with some friends until I wound up with it again and it broke. I sold that one for something like $50 or $60. I traded my Marlin 336 30-30 for a bow that I don't really like and the guy likes that rifle so much that he wouldn't sell it back to me. But I think I ran into him a while later and he took it on his first pig hunting trip and killed his first pig with it so I guess it went to a good home.

I sold a Ruger New Blackhawk revolver in .45 Colt with the extra cylinder for .45 ACPs to buy a High Standard Victor since I was getting into NRA Bullseye competition. That was over 30 years ago. It was the older Ruger that you had to half-cock to load. I still have the Victor but with a new frame. The original cracked and I had HS in Houston replace the bottom. It is still a tack driver.

Like Hawghauler I would definitely score moron as well. Never sold or traded guns throughout my adult life. Couple of years ago I decided I didn't need that Ruger Single Six Convertible (left to me by my dad and purchased in 1966) or the Llama 1911 style .380 (1970 model and dad's as well) and sold both to buy my 1st XD. Been regretting that ever since. That's made me rethink selling guns unless I wind up dead broke somewhere down the line.

I bought a GLOCK 22 a few months ago. I took it out the the range and shot it back to back with my Tangfolio Witness. Sold the Witness the next day, and I am using that cash to pay for part of my AR build

For the person you sold it to? LOL

I think that getting rid of a gun be it selling, trading, gifting or other wise, is like selling the pet dog. It could be a good thing if for the right reasons but you'll always feel bad.

No telling how many i have sold or traded. There were many years i was to poor to afford most of the guns i wanted to play with. So i would go to a gun show and buy one take it apart and shoot it, the go to the next gun show and trade it or sell it for something else. I might have done this 50 times.

I kick myself for this one -- sold my Ruger GP100 and used the money to get a Kahr CW9. I ended up selling the CW9, because I hated shooting it.

The ONLY silver lining is that I made about $25 profit on the GP100, from when I bought it new. Small consolation, as I almost immediately missed having a wheel gun.

Marlin 55 12ga bolt action with 36 inch barrel and 4 mags.

IIRC I paid $30 at a gun show and traded it for Springfield 1911 Champion
    10 years later.

    Wish I still had it.

I traded the first gun I bought. Can anyone remember the Dan Wesson Pistol Pack. 357 Magnum revolver 4", with interchangable barrels. Your choice of two, 2", 6",8", and the big 10 inch. Traded it for Colt Gold Cup 45 acp. Which I traded for a 38 special Colt Diamondback that I still have.

I’ve never got rid of a gun. I have one that I absolutely hate but it’s just setting in the box and no thought of selling or trading it--I have to sleep at night.

I bought a Taurus PT 140 Millenium Pro that I loved shooting - accurate li'l SOB. That is, until I realized that while it was comfortable to hold, it wasn't a good fit for my hand. The way the mag release button was positioned, I kept accidentally dropping the mag while firing. Not a good thing in a carry gun! Kind of took a bath on re-selling it to Action Pawn in Killeen, which is where I got it. However, I turned right around and used the money to buy my XD40 sub-compact, which is just as nice!

So in the end it all worked out.
