As theDan said earlier, " don't hide behind the government, just come and try to rob me yourself"
Again, thats why the Dickensian model doesn't work. They will.

Not arguing, just making an observation. If you go back and read some of his posts, you will find it appears to be a fairly accurate observation. No use in arguing with him, he's "enlightened"

The topic is Blue Shield losing customers. I said Medicare should be expanded to all citizens. It is still a good idea.Stay on topic( the topic you originally brought up)
I don't know how much she personally deserves, but how much of your income does all of society deserve, and then we have a discussion. How much are safe roads worth to you? How much is knowing that what is written on the label is actually in the product? How much is knowing that some shitbag company isn't dumping its waste into your drinking supply? How much is knowing that if the bad guys show up on our shores we will have a decisive response? How about knowing if you need emergency surgery, we'll take care of it, even if you can't afford the million dollars right now?The topic is Blue Shield losing customers. I think the real problem is we allow people in government to have too much power. If all we allowed the government to do is build roads, organize national defense (not offense), capture malum in se criminals, and provide dispute resolution then it wouldn't matter how many thieves vote. I don't think we really need the government for that stuff either, but pairing down to that would be a good start. We have way too much democracy and far too many people voting.
Depends on who the "others" is... It's not moral to help immoral people. If anything we have a duty to call out and shun thieves when we see them.I have a moral obligation to help others.
I agree that is part of the problem as well.I think the real problem is we allow people in government to have too much power. It is a 14th Amendment issue. Specifically the equal protection clause.I don't know how much she personally deserves, but how much of your income does all of society deserve, and then we have a discussion. The topic you brought up with your quote of my post. I addressed every point you made.
Just out of curiosity, why do you think Medicare for all is a good idea? How does that align with the concept of freedom and liberty?
It is a 14th Amendment issue. Specifically the equal protection clause.
All citizens are entitled to equal treatment under the law, even if that treatment isn't yet recognized. It is why I believe all instances of affirmative action are fundamentally wrong. But in this case, the government is offering basic medical coverage to those over 65, and those under 18. That leaves a gap for those that do not receive the same protection as other groups of people.
How about instead of getting ourselves into every conflict around the world, and having to spend 51% of the planet's military budget, an undue burden on any people, we ensure that basic medical care is afforded to every citizen regardless of age.
Ding ding dingThe gov should NOT be offering medical coverage to anyone. Period.

Seriously, what have those old folks done for us lately? If they want medical coverage, let them get back out there and get a job with benefits, right? The gov should NOT be offering medical coverage to anyone. Period.
Once upon a time, communities and churches took care of their own.Seriously, what have those old folks done for us lately? If they want medical coverage, let them get back out there and get a job with benefits, right?
Again communities and churches. Not the wasteful gov.And those kids.... They should have thought about that before they were born to such deadbeat parents.
