Hello all, if you take a class from a Vet that says he is all high speed make sure you ask to see a copy of his DD-214....if the instructor is legit they will have no problem showing the DD-214, with social security number redacted of course.

If any instructor tells you that thier record is classified......well that's your first combat indicator of BS!!!!!

    I don't understand.....

A civilian doesn't know squat about a DD214 or what should be on one and vets can spot a fraud pretty quickly....

Let me explain......a guy in Conroe was charging $200 a person for tactical classes based on his 18D and Ranger batt experience. Turns out he washed out of 14S school did 2 years as a med hold and got out on a med discharge. When confronted he stated his real DD-214 was classified and the copy I had of his was a cover.

Sorry V-Tach I should have explained what I was talking about better. As far as I know civilians can read the word Ranger on any sheet of paper

DD214 all the way. I can see quickly their enlistment dates, specialty codes, (mos) re-enlistment codes, and duty stations with dates.

Before I took my FIL to the VA years ago, because he was having some legit issues, he had always told me he had done 2 tours in Nam.
Well, he has been known to bull shit me before, so I had him dig out his 214 before I took him there and it was straight up RVN, 2 tours

a vet knows what to look for.

I deployed twice, but mine says nothing about that. Is it supposed to? It just has my duty stations, if I remember right.

But to your point....if he is misrepresenting his service and his qualifications for monetary gains, yes he should be called out on it....imho...

Mine has my deployment specific awards in block 13 including my OEF campaign medal, Sea Service Deployment ribbon, and the NATO ISAF Afghanistan medal. And in block 18 has my dates served in OEF. I blacked out everything so only the specific sections I talked about are shown.

I think mine is missing some of that. I'm gonna have to go talk to the VA and see if they can help me out. I have pics from over there, a nice appreciation letter from my command, and the t-shirt to back it up ;). My dd214 is at work right now. I'm gonna look it up tomorrow and make a phone call if I can figure out who to call. They had me look it over real good when I was getting out, but I didn't know to look for some of that.

Hope you get it figured out, as long as your OIF campaign is on there that's proof enough.
