I think these businesses are jumping the gun a bit (no pun intended). I wish we could all just wait a couple of weeks until the Open Carry novelty wears off and everybody sees what a big nothing it is. While I agree with the OP that the signs are a direct result of the jackassery of the various Open Carry groups, I can't help but wonder if we would have had the momentum to finally get this done without their... shall I say... enthusiasm?

    We'll see.

I think it is because of the novelty that these businesses are putting signs up.

Nobody wants their business disrupted, for any reason.

Give it a few years and all the signs will be faded and peeling, and management will wonder why they were ever put up in the first place.

No, those asshats did as much damage as they could possibly swing. Just remember when the next legislative cycle rolls around and it looks like the OC restrictions may be relieved a bit, just leave your asshattery at home and let the grown ups lobby for better laws. Every $#@!ing one of you need to be kicked in the nuts until they are irrevocably damaged to the point that you can not reproduce. And after the nut kicking is over, they need to be stomped on as they lay on the ground just to be sure.

They are not the reason why 30.07 signs are going up. I think you just wanted an excuse to attack open carry because you have some kind of childish fear of it. Everything in your post reeks of immaturity and idiocy.

And I don't think any of these folks did any damage to the open carry movement either, otherwise the bill would have never been passed nor would Abbott have gotten behind passing an OC bill early on.

Move on and let the grown ups handle this from here Hoji.

Mr. Loco, I can assure you that Watkins & Co have done more to hurt OC than anyone in Texas. This is my official finding from many conversations with friends, co-workers, neighbors, business associates, and sadly, family.

I understand private property rights. When one decides to open their property and invite everyone to come and bring them money. At this point they should be restricted on which lawful activities they restrict. Imagine restricting gay cross dressers. The sight of some of these folks is more than enough to send me to another store. Often their outlandish actions draw the media. Yet none of us can openly restrict them in any way. The state has no qualms about restricting Private property rights.
Gays are used as an example of people that are known to act as stupid OCT people only. I understand that even thinking in this manner is forbidden thought.

Try opening a business and telling someone you won't bake a cake - then a "right" that's not even in the bill of rights suddenly exists while a specifically enumerated right is prohibited.

No. Just because the gay mafia and race baiters use government to violate property rights doesn't mean we should, too. If you don't like a business then spend your money elsewhere.

Sounds like a wonderful world where property owners have rights. They could even deny service for being black, white, Asian, Mexican, Muslim, redhead, glasses, blue shoes, or bad teeth.

What a wonderful thought. Can you just imagine the freedom?!
