Nearly everywhere that "Requires" a military ID has taken my DL w/vet status. It's very rare anyone makes a big deal about it.

Rosa's Cafe gives a Military discount.

Before I got screwed up enough to get the tan ID Home Depot and Lowe's would accept my VA card and give me 10%.

I always ask. Some places that don't give a discount that surprised me were Academy and Tractor Supply.

Rosa's Cafe gives a Military discount. Tackle Warehouse gives 10%. Just need to provide proof and they link it to your account.

Wow, I didn't know about most of these discounts, only HD and Lowes.

At one time, all I had to do to get a 10% discount at Home Depot was show them a copy of my DD214, but after a year or so of this discount coming into being, they no longer accepted the DD214.

I was informed to get the vet discount, I had to go through some bureaucratic rigamarole to get some card if memory serves. I guess a DD214 just wasn't good enough anymore. My guess is way more vets were getting the discount than ever expected to take advantage of the discount offer and management made getting the discount more difficult to cut back on the discount for vets without really coming out and saying so. Bad PR for them if they were honest about why they no longer accepted a DD214. Bastards.

    I just couldn't bother.

So, there idea to cut back on vets getting discounts worked on me at least.

Sounds like you need to change that location ID to Texas & U.K.

Im trying believe me! USCIS are taking their sweet time with my H1B.

somehow I feel that my TXDL will not get a veterans stamp on it, seeing as how I'm not a US Vet!

    Weiss,

If your question is directed at me, yes, I have a copy of my DD214.

It's no longer accepted at the Home Depot I usually go to.

They now insist, as I previously mentioned, that I have to submit it with some sort an application filled out to their satisfaction to the DOD, if I recall correctly, but don't remember precisely because when they told me I had to now go through this bureaucratic bs, when previously a DD214 WAS accepted, I was incensed and thought f-it. If they won't accept a DD214 for fucks sake, then they really don't want to give vets their measly ass 10% discount, I can live without it.

So I decided, if a DD214 isn't acceptable at HD, then fine, I'll give all my business for hardware, tools, etc. to Lowe's, who still accept my DD214 as acceptable proof of my vet status.

Home depot official policy is a vet card from the VA, I have had the cashier point me to the sign when I use my DL with the vet stamp on it. When I last went, which has been a few months they were instructed to not make an issue of it but point out the policy.

    manta,

Yeah, I couldn't remember that it's the VA Vet card they now insist on.

A DD214 isn't good enough for them anymore.

HD has never really offered the 10% discount to all vets across the board. Here is their official policy.

    Home Depot Military/Veteran Discount Policy
They offer a 10 percent discount, up to a $500 maximum, to all active, reserve, retired or disabled veterans and their family members with a valid military ID, every day of the week.

All other military veterans qualify for a 10 percent discount during Memorial Day, Veterans Day and Independence Day.

Customers must have one of the valid IDs listed below for year round discount:

    1. Active Duty Military ID card with a picture.
    2. A retired Military ID card with a picture.
    3. VA Card (Department of Veterans Affairs) – MUST have the
      words SERVICE CONNECTED under picture.
    4. Active Military and Retired Military ID card for
      spouse/dependents

Found out O'Riley in Belton gives a discount. Was in there picking up a digital tire pressure gauge and some flare nut wrenches and the guy asked me if I was active, retired, or disabled. That was nice, probably go back there from now on. Better service than Autozone when it comes to help.
