Which bipod are you using and which bipod are you planning to use in the future?
This one is a $40 Walmart special I had laying around. I haven't decided between an Atlas again, a GG&G, or a different quality bipod. I am not really a Harris fan but they do make good stuff.

I hadn't planned on really using a bipod but the group shooting convinced me otherwise. Plus they are handier than bags.

Gotchya. Yep, I've always been a fan of Harris. I decided to try something a little different and went for the Blackhawk cant/pant lockable bipod. After some fine-tuning to get the lock-throw just right where it'd actually firm up to allow zero movement, I'm liking it so far.

An Atlas or GG&G would be nice though. I looked at the latter recently and was impressed by how lightweight it was. Pricey though.

Never held or shot with an Atlas before...

I always figured I'd just buy the best and planned on putting an Atlas on my gun(s). Even wholesale, they're pretty pricey. So I did some research. Accurateshooter.com has great stuff on precision shooting. Turns out they did some studies and over a few years many of the top 50 shooters were using the Harris bipods. I figure if it's good enough for them, it's good enough for me. They use whatever they want regardless of budget as it seems (custom barrels, S&B scopes, etc) but still many/most are using the Harris'. I think they look cheap and cheesy with the springs and thin metal, but in the end, I'm more a results oriented guy (I'm shooting Savages, if that tells you anything) and tend to defer to the pinnacle of results oriented guys in this discipline.

That's solid logic. I've used Harris bipods in the past, but I wanted to try something else for a change. The Blackhawk Traverse unit I'm using retails for about $80. I wanted to try out the unit's ability to pan across 25º or so for mid- to long-range movers without having to reposition. So far, I'm pleased.

I found a GG&G and Harris bipod today as I have a few rifles that need them. The GG&G is a very nice bipod and will go on the Stealth.

I also have a scope level (from my Secret Santa) to mount.

I will get it put together and post some pictures.

I must say though that the Harris is a night and day difference from the knock offs that Walmart sells (Harris/ Winchester/ Blackhawk/ Caldwell/ or whatever they are calling them these days).

How you liking that 4-16 Vortex scope? I've got a Nikon M308 in the same power on my Savage 10T but thinking I need to upgrade to a either a PST or HS Long Range 6-24 Vortex scope. But at $900, may have to sell some ARs to afford it.

I like it a lot. I have the Vortex 6-24x50 ffp on my 338 and like it better though.

The sfp models are a little more affordable but I really like ffp scopes.

I do plan on going for a Razor (or similiar in a different brand maybe) soon but the PST scopes have served me very well.

I mounted my GG&G bipod on the rifle today. I removed the sling stud and bolted a piece of Picatinny rail in place of it. I could have got a M-lok section but wanted it further forward than that would have allowed. It would have been pretty far back because of the design of the bipod.

I also did some color fill and can actually make sense of Savage's new logo now. I haven't really looked before but it is plain as day with the color fill.

That looks sturdy. Are you keeping the same monopod on the rear?
Yeah, for now anyways. It is built into the stock and they make a decent combo. I have looked at other options but don't think I will gain enough to justify the expense.

The monopod is pretty solid but folds up and rides a bag well too.

I mounted my scope level today also. I shoot lefty and the directions say to put it on the opposite side (left) but it works better on the right.

On the left it would stick out by itself. On the right the turret and bolt stick out also.

Plus I can see it with my open right eye as I get ready to shoot.

It seems that all firearm manufacturers have made a quantum leap in barrel design and production in the past few years.
I recently bought a Ruger American Rifle in 6.5 Creedmoor. It cost me $400 retail. If I do my part, it will produce similar five shot groups to those shown for this rifle. The only addition to my rifle was the installation of a Leupold Mark 4 [6.5x20 x 55mm] scope. It is a good time to be a firearms owner.
