Not the same--the "rear focus" you speak of is used to get the reticle in focus for your visual correction. The "side focus" is to adjust for parallax at various ranges--thus, it is an adjustable objective scope. Most all scopes have the ocular focus but not all have an adjustable objective.Oh ok. You are correct--I brainfarted. My 10x is side focus and my 6x is rear focus. The 3x9-42 variable has no adjustable objective.Unless something has changed, it is the same. I had both but sold the rear focus.
