Bought some more 460 mag brass. Last time I talked to the brother in law he only had a couple rounds left and I found so.e cheap.

I bit the bullet and bought the 33# keg of powder. Wife's not happy about it though. Might have to sell some eventually. At $11/pound it's hard to pass though. Should be set for life on pistol powder though...

    I have sinned.
Went to a public range, left good brass amongst the other empties littering the ground.

I did the same up in nebraska the day after Christmas with a couple hundred 9mm brass. I think was 6 degrees outside. There was 4-5 inches of snow on the ground. 9mm is cheap. Eff it. I wasn't taking my gloves off!

Yes. You Texans are afraid of the cold. I just hate it the cold.

Brought my 22cal mp5 for my dad to shoot and couldn't resist getting in some time with my 9. We didn't stick around long. Couple hundred rounds of each while taking breaks in the warm car to reload mags.

I have been known to do that with 9mm, .40, and .223. Next trip out, i just picked up an extra 2-300 rnds as penance foe my sin.

Guns have only two enemies: rust and politicians!

I won another 1000x 224 bullets of my choice yesterday in another raffle. I have a choice between 55gr VMAx, 55gr fmj, 68gr bthp, or 75gr match. I just built an AR but it has a 1:9 twist. It seems like the 68gr is pushing that a little. Any one use 68gr bullets for 223?

Loaded up some 55gr Nosler Varmagedon in 6mm Creedmoor. Mainly because someone said that a 8 twist was too fast for them. Time will tell if they will turn into the gray cloud upon leaving the barrel or not. Should be north of 3800fps. Pic for comparison from left to right is 55gr Nosler Varm, 105gr Nosler RDF, 80gr VLD (22 Creed) and 80gr Amax (22 Creed)

1:9 will stabilize 75gr Hornady bthp Match bullets and there is data available to load them to fit in AR mags.

75gr Amaxes are a little longer. They will stabilize but data loads them longer than mag length. I believe the ELDMs are a little longer too but I haven't shot any.

75gr Eld are .009 longer than the 75gr Amax

I'm not afraid of it just aware of the problems it can cause and choose to stay out of it. If I wanted to freeze my keister I would move to Minnesota (never) or Korea (nope, been there)

I lived in nebraska for 4.5 years. After the 5th winter I noped the hell out of there back to San Diego!

10-4 on the 68gr and 75gr match. I have previously only loaded 52, 53, and 55 great rounds. I didnt plan to load anything lighter than 52 or heavier than maybe 62. Maybe I should pickup the heavier ones and use it as an excuse to buy a single or bolt rifle in 22 caliber!

My 1:9 barrels LOVE 55 g bullets. I usually shoot VMax or the Hornady SPs.

My barrel is 16" long in my AR. My bull barrel AR also likes the 55g bullets. I recently shot at 300 yards, and they were about an inch low at 300 yds. Scope is zeroed at 100 yds.

You forgot to mention the barrel "length" here - and it is an important part of the equation.

Barrel length and "max"-velocity rounds can over-come slower twist barrel rates, allowing the use of heavier bullet weights.

ps - FWIW, 75gr A-Max bullets have a tangent ogive that generally precludes loading them for use in 5.56/223 magazines (the chances of having a set-back issues - because the bullet is already seated too deeply in the brass in-order to fit into the mag, makes using them un-safe IMHO). They are best loaded long, used with a "sled"/single rnd. mag and a special chambered AR, like 80-90gr bullets.

It takes a ton of velocity to overcome twist rate issues. Unless it's borderline at the bottom end of the powder charge it's generally a waste of powder to try pushing fast enough to stabilize an unstable bullet.
