What did you do today in the world of reloading?

I bought some tarnished 45 brass a few months ago. I’ve been slowly resize /depriming them.

I think I’ll knock the rest out his morning. . Once it warms up I’m going to try to freshen them up with an acid bath.

Maker Rex makes some good bullets, so, I was re-upping the stock. Placed an order, then realized I was one item away from free shipping. So, my mistake, I hit the "contact us" and simply put "please cancel order xxxx as I am placing another with items added to qualify for free shipping". Well, I was told that part of the webpage "doesn't work" after I called. It of course had both orders. Wallet isn't thrilled, but I can't find it in me to be too upset.

Discovered that a half-full keg of 4227 that I've had for ~40 years has gone off. The smell made that obvious.

I hope my grass appreciates how expensive their fertilizer was.

I'm waiting on the boss man to shoot his test loads before I can start cranking out those grendels for him so decided I'd clean a little and start boxing up the 9s I've been working on. I got 19 boxes packed up so far and set up the press for another run tomorrow. I'm half tempted to go back to just storing these rounds in plastic sandwich bags to make life easier.

With this many rounds I should just start loose filling in ammo cans. I'm currently using repack boxes and like them. It's just a chore to fill those boxes.

Contractor at the house so I took the day off. Knocking out some 124gr 9mm rounds to be productive. 700 rounds and counting so far

1800 rounds for the day. Calling it quits. Took some breaks and also had to deal with the shell plate holder screw snap on the dillon square deal press. First time I've had a part break on one. Shell plate stuck in the up position with brass in the dies. Had to use a pencil eraser to back out the bolt from the threads in the press then use a punch to get the brass and shell holder out from the dies. Set me back a bit, otherwise would have been over 2k for today.

I had the same thing happen on my SDB last summer. Called customer service and they had a replacement part in the mail to me that day (love that customer service). Customer service says that it is not a uncommon breakdown so they sent me a couple shell plate bolts.

Just tumbling some .41 brass.

I used a vibratory tumbler for decades. Never did like it much. It was loud. It was dusty. It worked pretty well with a fresh charge of media but that faded fast. I tried all sorts of additives and dryer sheets and what-not. It was O.K. but I was never really happy with it.

I wasn't sure about wet tumbling. One day years ago I was at Harbor Freight and they didn't have what I needed in stock and I had this coupon .... so I bought one of their "Rock Tumblers". I thought I'd give the wet tumbling a try but I didn't think I was going to like it, so I went cheap. Works great, super clean (almost too clean) brass in a couple of hours. I'm not going back to the noisy dust machine.

The stupid Harbor Freight tumbler refuses to die! It ain't fancy but it works for me. Each drum holds 100 .41 Magnum cases easily. With smaller pistol calibers it will obviously hold a lot more but .41 is the biggest thing I shoot. Since I only shoot 100 rounds of center-fire a week, the capacity is not really a problem. I run it once or twice a month. The two drums are nice since I can do two different calibers at the same time. I don't shoot rifle. It might be too small for a lot of rifle brass.

I haven't reloaded before except in a couple of classes I took many years ago, but I saw a guy in my neighborhood was selling his reloading equipment with extras for little of nothing, so on Sunday I picked up an older Dillon Square Deal B. It came with 45acp, 357 dies, a Midway tumber (more on that later), brass, some primers and bullets (no powder), manuals, tools, and some spare parts.

I spent yesterday breaking down the unit so I can clean it and see what needs to be replaced and/or what else I should get for spares for. Other than being an older unit and needing a detailed cleaning/greasing, it appears to be in good working order.

The tumbler is an old Midway 1292 (no SN label on the underside, no ground plug) and was part of a recall over a decade ago. I called Midway this morning and they said send them pics to verify the age (guess they haven't seen one without the underside label in a while) and then they'll send me a new tumbler to replace this one. I was surprised they'd do that since I didn't purchase it and told the guy I was only expecting a "here's how to fix it - install this inline fuse" kinda deal, but he said the company would rather replace them completely.

With that said, is there anyone in the SA/Austin region that reloads and would be willing to meet up and assist/teach a newbie?

I just cranked out 100 test rounds for the 9mm. Got a great deal on some 115gr Xtreme plateds from another TGT member. Between the older stock primers I have, the bullet price(5 cents each) and the powder a nice lady sold me for $10/lb(AA#5) these are about a dime a shot, maybe less. 6.1gr AA5 should make for good range practice.
