    In the woods...
I'm soon to be retired and my daily requirements for dress are, therefore changing. I can now easily conceal in a fobus (or other) owb holster and have the weapon concealed by something as light as a T-shirt. As cold as it has been I could have concealed a bazooka this past week!

I'm usually on my own property, cutting brush, building fences, etc, and have found my PPK to be easy to carry. It does not get in the way while working, riding the 4-wheeler, etc. An extra mag goes unnoticed in a pocket.

I also own a Makarov but don't have a holster for it, other than the leather flap holster it came with. What are your thoughts on the PPK vs. Mak for a kit/trail gun?

I've carried a snubbie .38 with a Barami HipGrip for years. Due to my job I was legally unable to carry during work hours.

I usually carry a revolver on the property during summer - mainly due to snakes. I make my own shotshells for .32 and .38. But the longer barreled revolvers really get in the way when riding OWB.

Good point. I'm a fan of the j-frame and have carried a version of it more than all other firearms combined. Still, I like the PPK for winter. The extra mag in the pocket brings me a quick reload with 13 rounds total.

As I've said before in the forums, when I carry a j-frame, I've often carried two. It's easier to re-gun than it is to reload!

PPK's are 'snappy' and hard to shoot straight.

LOL, even my wife thinks it's a mild shooting gun that's a pleasure to use, and to me it feels like it's not even there and I'm sending fireballs directly from my finger tips right to what I'm looking it. It's so tiny, I have to shoot it one-handed.

Well, I put about 50 rds of cheap range ammo through it today. 100%! It points well, it hits where you point, and recoil was minimal. I'll answer my own question and deem it a good choice!

I've never owned a ppk but have owned a Makarov.
I'd rather carry a stick than that Makarov.
I figure if a ppk is good enough for 007 then it would be good enough for me.

Different folks, different strokes, I suppose. I've taken time to familiarize myself with the ppk platform,v and I'm comfortable with it. I consider it the 1911 of concealed carry.

How many of you knew that John Moses Browning designed the .380 to be a 3/4 dimensional replica to the .45 acp?

Well, judging by the elapsed time, I'm guessing no one knew.

Encouraged by the success and function of the .45acp, he sought to produce a smaller pistol around a 3/4 scale round - the .380.

I finally fired a box of ammo through the recently acquired Wanad/Radom p-83. A bit bigger than the ppk. Makarov-ish in design. Might resort to carrying this one while on the property in the original flap holster.

humm, and I always though of this:

This is actually one I bought for my sister - as she decided she like'd mine, (an old blued mid-80s acquired Mustang, bought NIB) - I put 250 rounds thru this one, along with another 100 with her - to make certain it was as reliable as my old one. It never missed a lick and the 7# trigger it started with outta the box was down to 5 3/4# after just 350 rounds, (she still complained because the old Mustang carried for her LTC class is down around 3# and smooth as silk - but then it's had more than 1k rounds thru it).

Easy to shoot, easy to load, accurate at all LTC distances - one of Colt's best picks IMHO - no mods necessary.

ps - I don't care for the newer polymer framed versions - 'cus if it ain't broke I don't fix it......
