This store is located on hwy 183, just as you come into Lockhart from the north. The guy that runs it is named Jack, and is a really nice guy. He recently remodeled the place and put up both 30-06 & 30-07 signs. I went in there about 3 weeks ago to ask him to remove the 30-06 sign and he was receptive to doing so. But drove by the other day and it's still up. I told him we are the good guys and mean no harm to anyone. I guess he's not gonna remove it, so I have no choice but to take my business elsewhere. Thought I would let everyone know about this place.

I had some of these printed up which I use around the north Dallas area when I run into establishments like that. If it’s part of a large chain operation, a lot of times the “corporate office” establishes those policies - in which case, the card isn’t likely to do any good. But for small “Mom & Pop shops”, at least it may open a dialogue and get them thinking about their potential revenue loss.

Jack did point out the mat you are supposed to wipe your feet on when entering. Had big letters on it, saying "ARGO" or some such. Jack said the mat company gave him both signs. I guess the company has some anti-gun agenda.

I should add that Jack is from Pakistan, or some such place, so gun culture is probably a foreign concept to him. I doubt he is a member of Lone Star gun range, just north of town.

That’s what I was thinking about Pakistan. Perhaps they’re more into heavy machine guns, mortars and Katyusha rocket launchers.

So did you tell him you are not going to go there anymore because of it?

You can look the store up on Google, and there is a place for reviews. Looking through them, I saw where he does respond to them. So, I gave his store a fair review but mentioned the 30-06 sign, and said that if you have a CHL then your business is not welcome there. These folks will sometimes listen if they believe they are gonna take it in the wallet!

OK, got some more info on this place. Jack, the owner, told me that GAMA, Inc., gave him both 30-06 & 30-07 signs and "recommended" he put both of them up! GAMA is the Greater Austin Merchants Association. Does anyone know their political leanings? They are obviously anti concealed and open carry.

There was something not to long ago with the Greater Houston Retailers Cooperative doing the same thing. They were handing out these signs and telling the businesses they have to put both up.

So does the owner now understand that GAMA has their own agenda and it doesn't include what's best for his business?
