Someday ........... I'll get one of my ARs (pistol first, probably) machined to have a knob, etc. on the left side of the upper to charge it. A slot for the knob to pull back the bolt. Makes sense to me and seems to be a lot more convenient.

I have an AXTS Raptor. It is solidly built and seems to be very durable except for the finish. I see a lot of bare aluminum after an estimated 800-900 rounds. No experience with the BCM charging handles.

I "think" it would make it easier to stay on target never letting go of the pistol grip or repositioning in any way to reach up with my left hand and grab the knob to pull it back. I could be wrong. I always have to come away from my position to grab the standard "T" handle to recharge it. Just throwing that out there to see what others think.

I havent used the Raptor. I have used the BCM on a few different rifles and it is really good. Durable, high quality and the extended latches are nice.

I also have another extended charging handle by Rise armament and its pretty much the same as the BCM

I use BCMs in all my builds. I ran a standard CH for a long time before I bought my first BCM on sale. As has been said, it’s a big improvement.

I don’t shoot as much as I used to so it’s probably not a necessary upgrade but I still use them for consistency across my ARs.

I may not have made myself clear. I'm talking about a small circular "pin" (for lack of a better word) that is screwed into the bolt on the left side of the upper part of the receiver that slides back in a slot cut for it so one does not have to lower the gun to recharge the bolt. It's pulled with the left hand straight back about four inches or so to recharge the weapon. I'm looking for a picture on line.

    That?

I’ve considered it but haven’t convinced myself the price is worth it. My $45 BCM CHs have been good enough for me.
