Why don't people take the media seriously?

Socialism to me is repulsive and obviously that's what the NYT has become, a socialist propaganda medium. Look at all the socialist societies of the past and you'll find that speech was one of the first things that was controlled. You couldn't say anything that could be thought of as negative to the so called greater good. That's why many scholars and people of intelligence were imprisoned or killed.

Socialists always-ALWAYS- destroy anything they perceive as threat. Real or imagined.
They want to control all media goes without saying.
They immediately eliminate private firearm ownership, frequently by extreme violence, the only effective means of committing violence against them.
They demand a monopoly on force.

This is what is so disheartening about the idiots that want to vote this type of government into place here.
Once Socialists get into power they never relinquish it without destroying their nation and themselves.

Another thing: Deep down all Socialist are greedy bastards. They may be upset with their birth position and strive to "equalize" wealth but its all bullshit.

In the past week I have really been looking into the democratic party's history, since most the media, to me anyway, is more aligned with their narrative. It has been quite eye opening and often times not easy to uncover. As far as socialism and the democratic party goes, it's not something that is a resent development, in fact you can make a case for socialism as far back as the founder of the democratic party, Andrew Jackson. Socialists were quite common in the U.S. in the 1930's up until communism fell out of favor and then they called themselves progressives. Socialists/communists were always more aligned with the democratic party back then and after McCarthy the term "progressive democrats" was coined.

I will say that while not all democrats were socialists, there were socialist ideals that were adopted by the party. In fact things that I took for granted, for example "the democrats lead the way for the civil rights bills in 1964 and 1965" were not exactly correct. Republicans were, percentage wise, more in favor of civil rights than the democrats.

There are other areas I uncovered, but I don't want to tread on people's beliefs, so I will say that if you really want the truth, dig deeper. The democratic party is and was about the elites, the selected elites that is.

Our bad media is from poor ethical standards. Hiring people that aren’t neutral, journalists are allowed to have opinions, and news has become politicized for ratings. It’s all just entertainment now. News is as real as reality tv.

Another issue I have with people is no one will watch content from the opposition. As painful as it is, we have to sometimes to get our own opinion. Maybe something was taken out of context or edited. We should challenge our minds to research for ourself if something isn’t true. Take Alex Jones. He’s had some funny and true moments but he’s over all a nut bar. He did a good job stopping Clinton but my issues with him are from the early days of info wars and spreading fear to hardcore conspiracy folks so he could make money. Such as with aussiebloke in the early 2000’s and being the son of a professor that knew how to look up said needed information. Take nasa theories. Most people don’t know how hard it would be to enforce a cover up considering for a long time raw data would be given to university students because they didn’t have the man power. I stand where Ben Shapiro stands on this issue. We shouldn’t ban anything. we need unrestricted access to everyone’s point of view.

Most media outlets have to make money to survive. The market has said long form journalism is not what we will pay for. But pander to my beliefs and I’ll pay for that so long as I can read the whole story without having to jump to another page.

Today, 90% of media outlets in America are owned by 6 companies: Comcast, AT&T, 21st Century Fox, Disney, and Viacom. Add to that 15 billionaires and >95% of all media outlets and newspapers in American are controlled by just 21 entities.

Not much room for independent thought in a space like that.

The market has said long form journalism is not what we will pay for.

People pay for long-form podcasts. Joe Rogan is moving lots of merch and has lots of financial support via Patreon. Of course, it helps that he had lots of money to begin with. I suspect he's invested a lot to make a little. The point stands, though, that people are willing to shell out money monthly for quality long form journalism.

There are folks making a living from long form podcasts; they're worth exploring.
