    Have no idea what F.A.S.T technology is... How does it open?

    Eidt. Found a video review. That is an assisted opening and perfectly legal in Texas. The legislature just clarified that these are legal.

    I have a Kershaw assisted opening in my pocket right now.

    Gerber describes it as an "assisted opening knife" that is similar to their "automatic opening knife"....I have no idea what they mean by that, so I have no idea if its legal.

    (11) "Switchblade knife" means any knife that has a blade that folds, closes, or retracts into the handle or sheath and that opens automatically by pressure applied to a button or other device located on the handle or opens or releases a blade from the handle or sheath by the force of gravity or by the application of centrifugal force. The term does not include a knife that has a spring, detent, or other mechanism designed to create a bias toward closure and that requires exertion applied to the blade by hand, wrist, or arm to overcome the bias toward closure and open the knife."

    Only those UNDER 5 1/2 inches. Texas law makes knives over 5 1/2 inches illegal. See the out?

    Get a lockblade knife that has a blade EXACTLY 5.5". Although it would be a little large to carry, it would be state legal as well as legal under city ordinance.

    I'm a retired civil servant too poor to get a good lawyer. I do agree there is an out. If SA is like my city, the city council would just change the wording of the ordinance, unless deep pockets challenge it under the Texas Constitution.

    How absurd, a city ordinance keeps me from carrying my 2" blade Old Timer, but I can carry a 5.5" hunting knife and firearms.

    Are politicians just naturally dumb or is it something learned from having power?:banghead:

    How the blade length is measured is also an issue as it's not defined. A curved or heavy profiled blade may be longer when the profile of the blade is measured than when measured from point to the sharp end. ~ vs - .

    (6) “Illegal Knife” means a:
    (A) knife with a blade over five and one half inches;
    Rainer v. State, 763 S.W.2d 615 (Tex. App.-Eastland 1989, pet. ref’d) To determine
    length, measure entire length of blade past handle, not just the sharpened portion of the
    blade. Same result in McMurrough v. State, 995 S.W.2d 944 (Tex. App.-Ft. Worth 1999).

    This is what I found. Not anything "blade" is as if yet.
