Wonder if she'll be housed at the Mt. View Unit for Women in Gatesville and if she'll be put in general pop. or segregation? She's a white cop that murdered a black man.
Some of those big bulls aren't going to take too kindly to that.

A lot of folks here have LTC's. In the class were you taught to shoot to wound, no, you were taught to shoot to kill. That's the ONLY guaranteed end to the threat. If you stop before give yourself an attaboy because that's not what you were trying to do.

I was always taught the ONLY time your weapon was drawn was when you were justified in killing someone. It was not for scare tactics. If the situation rectifies itself before shots are fired that's great, all the way around. BUT when that gun came out if you didn't have the mindset that you were going to kill, if needed, find another line of work or if you have a LTC give it up.

Regarding the case at hand, ‘justification’ is the point of the entire discussion.....

Does anyone else here wonder how this would have played out if he HAD followed her instructions? So she has him on the floor, saying "this is MY apartment!". She realizes it's true. She holsters weapon, saying "my bad; I must be off one floor." And leaves.

Just too strange of a scenario to even imagine...
    Either way.
So you have to just do what your told like a good boy when a home invasion is occurring?

Home invasion is generally a term for entering the home with the intent to commit further crimes once inside, while detaining the occupants with force.

Guyger unlawfully entered with force, but not with intent to commit further crimes inside.
Would the further crime be the aggravated assualt and then murder of the homeowner ?

I don’t recall our Firearms Instructors or our classes on Use of Deadly Force ever recommending the delivery of a coup de grâce.....

LOL. In other news, I predicted the Cowboys would lose to the Saints after the final score was announced!
    No, I really did. I didn't get to see all of the evidence, but follow;

    1) Black guy killed by white cop
    2) His apartment
    3) 5 black jurors/ only two white
    4) Jury needs to punish someone- no one else was there.
    5) Said in court she shot with intent to kill

To the letter of the law I think, based on what I know, that she had a viable defense, but there was no way they were going to let her walk.

My point is when we were all stating our opinion, you were silent. Once the verdict is read, you are all full of comment that aligns with the result.

YOUR post in the Poll on guilt or innocence:

Having not heard or see ALL of the evidence, and being exposed to information that the jury was not, I cannot cast a decision.

I don't think she had a viable defense. Consider that when a guy holds up a liquor store, the clerk shoots and kills your lookout, the guy get charged with murder because his actions caused the death of somebody.
Different state, but Lisl Aumann was sentenced to life for murder because a guy killed somebody while she was literally handcuffed sitting in the back of a police car.
Consider all the cases where somebody got charged with murder because he drunkenly caused a vehicle accident.

    I don't think your points 1, 3 and 4 have any merit.
