That's a work of art, if nothing else hang it on the wall, don't sell is my advice. (although I would certainly love it myself)I'm still torn on whether to keep it for myself or sell it to someone who has the ability to give it the love I can't at the moment with my current situation. My mom and sister have no interest or desire to keep it. Unfortunately don't have the box, but she is a virgin, never been fired or chambered.
It pains me to say it, but, just sell it.I'm still torn on whether to keep it for myself or sell it to someone who has the ability to give it the love I can't at the moment with my current situation. Renaissance wax, besides it's not anywhere near as humid as say Dallas in Washington. It pains me to say it, but, just sell it.
Please don't haul it up to PNW to all that humidity.
It's collectible, but are you or your mom gun collectors?
That rifle needs the same care that your dad gave it.
My dos centavos.
Shoot deer. Elk. Bears. SasquatchMy dad's cousin was dying and gave it to my dad before his wife could snatch it up to sell. It's been sitting in the safe since then. It's gorgeous, I just have no idea what I'd do with it if I kept it.
I don't know your mom's financial situation. Or yours. My dad's cousin was dying and gave it to my dad before his wife could snatch it up to sell. It's been sitting in the safe since then. It's gorgeous, I just have no idea what I'd do with it if I kept it.
Where’s @madhatter at? I would think he could offer up some good advice.
You're right; it's @Mad John the collector from Illinois, I think with stuff in museums, too.I think you dialed the wrong number.

These matter. That being said, I'd look for a Lakota Sioux museum in the Dakota territories that doesn't already have one.
I'd "loan" (or whatever fancy word the curators use) it to the museum with the understanding that it must be kept in "as good as now" condition and is subject to sale.
A bit more legwork and paperwork. But you retain ownership and the rifle is cared for and displayed. Pretty much like the builders intended.
His situation has changed quite a bit. He's a great guy but I wouldn't expect him to be as involved as he once was. You're right; it's @Mad John the collector from Illinois, I think with stuff in museums, too.
