    LOL.

Reminds me of those threads where the convicted felon is not sure if he is a convicted felon or not.
I am still trying to figure out if my dad is a prohibited person now or not after being hospitalized this past February after a medication reaction.

He isn’t asking but I wonder.

Except a convicted a felon is totally different. The ATF needs to be abolished, I have to go through all this red tape simply because I had thoughts of suicide 4 years ago?

Proud libertarian. Look at California and the 10-round magazine capacity law? Give communists an inch and they will take a mile.

Like a convicted felon, you know if a judge forcibly committed you or not. And it was only 4 years ago? I can remember if the principal sent me to detention or not and that was 40 years ago.

Read detailed instructions for 11f and see if it is clear as mud.

    Question 11.f.

    Adjudicated as a Mental Defective:
A determination by a court, board, commission, or other lawful authority that a person, as a result of marked subnormal intelligence, or mental illness, incompetency, condition, or disease: (1) is a danger to himself or to others; or (2) lacks the mental capacity to contract or manage his own affairs. This term shall include: (1) a finding of insanity by a court in a criminal case; and (2) those persons found incompetent to stand trial or found not guilty by reason of lack of mental responsibility.

Committed to a Mental Institution: A formal commitment of a person to a mental institution by a court, board, commission, or other lawful authority. The term includes a commitment to a mental institution involuntarily. The term includes commitment for mental defectiveness or mental illness. It also includes commitments for other reasons, such as for drug use. The term does not include a person in a mental institution for observation or a voluntary admission to a mental institution.

Pretty clear to me none of that ever happened to me.

    I agreed to getting help.

But even for those who were ordered by a judge, being suicidal should not forfeit your right to guns, it's already bad enough that you have to prove you're not a criminal to the state by answering all of these questions. As a Libertarian, the FBI, CIA, ATF, NSA, etc. all need to be abolished.

"Big brother is watching you. War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength"

Have fun when the communists put more even more regulations like California.

    Ron Paul!

Did you register with your real name? I hope not. These kind of posts can turn around to bite you. Best to get some legal counsel.

Look at the detailed exception at the bottom of page 4 and top of page 5.

    Look specifically at b.

If you are no longer required to have mandatory mental health treatment you qualify for the bold part at the bottom of that section, I quote:

“Persons who fall within one of the above exceptions should answer "no" to question 11.f.”

So where is the confusion since you obviously can read and conclude what it says?

    I agreed to getting help.

I cant help you with whether you were committed or not, but if not, you can go buy a gun tomorrow and just check the correct box. Your previous [incorrect] answer is irrelevant.

And I am glad you got whatever help you needed and are released.

my confusion is with that it says “ever” in the actual question.

The exception as I understand it makes no sense if “ever” is the wording in the question.

    Does not compute.

It’s like asking a question “Have you EVER dyed your hair blonde?” But then telling you to answer no if you did once but your hair is no longer dyed blonde now.

Well if I have dyed my hair blond once, but it is not blond now, it is obvious to me I answer No.

Bush43 was convicted by the Kuala Lumpur War Crimes Commission. But the instructions say only US courts count, so he can answer No.

    Not that hard really.
