Congratulations on your new Marlin. There's no way I'd put a red dot on a lever action rifle.I got a Marlin 336 for Christmas and was thinking a red dot would pair great with it for purposes of being a South Texas brush gun.
Which red dot and mount would you all recommend?
Sure, make it to where the other kids bully him.People put scopes on them too............I feel the same way about scopes.....
If you want to put one on......do it.....
A red dot with a lever action rifle just seems so wrong.
I would, I could get lost in my backyard...
Hmm ... well allow me to introduce your 336's cousin: Blastphemy.I decided that a red dot would make it more difficult to shoot precisely at 100+ yards.
I bought a Vortex 1-4 w/ illuminated reticle. Should be here tomorrow.
When, with the right ammo,( Leverevolution ) you can make the realistic effective range of a 30-30 out to 250+ yards( and consistent 5 shot, 1” groups at 100) why wouldn’t you scope it?People put scopes on them too............I feel the same way about scopes.....

Same here, Many of the Sig 1911's are nice, but the rail just turns me off.I don't like accessory rails on 1911's either
