I know that my purpose for looking at analysis is to be better. Not to denigrate those who were victims. I am really not very good at being ready. I sorely need to be improving.

About all you can do is practice as best you can within your personal limitations and be as prepared as you can be for a completely unexpected event.

Learning from the mistakes (or success) of others is great, critiques not so much. They may have challenges not obvious to casual observation.

It’s sad that we need armed security at places to worship God.

But from a psychopath’s POV, it’s a target if opportunity so I absolutely carry in church.

What we don’t need are coastal progressives pushing legislation from afar. They don’t care about flyover states in general, and we can deal with our own issues.

What did first man shot say? Anything from second?

Lots of speculation about slow draw but was someone trying to diffuse the situation and draw weapon at the same time without telegraphing?

It’s a horrible situation and one that will probably be never completely known.

I heard "Drop it! Drop it!" and then the first person got shot...

Fight, flight or freeze... he unfortunately froze. Not a knock on him personally, but a consequence of training and poor mindset.

It sadly reminded me of the Trooper Vetter video...

Like someone else said do it dry.
Clear the gun, put the ammo in another room, then get as many cycles as you can... I fortunately have a range where I can practice hot, but that is rare.

I have been drawing and dry firing for 5 years using a laserlyte training round and a B27 target. I think I've gotten pretty good at it, but I would still like to know how all that practice translates to draw and fire with live rounds. My range doesn't allow it.

I think Shoot Smart allows it in one of their suites. I couldn’t confirm it on their website though.

Aye, and when I first tried to draw from an IWB holster at 4 o'clock, for practice, I ditched them all and went pocket instead.
