Went by the local Walmart on my way to test out the new Savage .22 takedown. With my discount, I got 5 500rnd boxes of.Win .22lr Expert for just over $83 out the door. New rifle seems to like them.

Do they still have that ammo on sale at Walmart now, a month after you bought it and tested the Savage?

I just bought it today. I did use my walmart discount. It's about $17-$18 per box.

Anybody looking to grab a bit might want to look at LAX Ammo. I got a bit of 22 tonight at five cents per round. Not the greatest price, I know, but not bad. The reason I mention it is that not only does there inventory system seem to be up to date but they did not charge me tax. I'm very used to being taxed on online ammo sales but it was a nice surprise and saved me nine bucks which made shipping costs more palatable, even though the shipping cost was on par with any other company. Mind you, this was shipping to TN but every other order I've placed in the last six months has been taxed but this one. I'm sitting on plenty of 22lr but a few k extra doesn't hurt.

All my pistols shoot just about anything.
I have rifles that are particular though. I have at least 3000 of each ones favorite ammo. That is the "stash". It doesn't get touched.
At least another 1000 in the "shooting stash".
Then there is the "just because I could stash".
Everytime I dig for something, I find stuff I forgot I had. I'm good with that.

I have 10k rounds of Aguila SuperExtra 22 Long Rifle Ammo 40 Grain and 10k rounds of CCI Standard Velocity and then a bunch of mix and match high velocity stuff. Most of my guns are bolt or revolvers and will fire everything. I like the standard velocity for the silenced weapons (Ruger 2245, Savage bolt). The Ruger 2245 and slab side MII's will handle it too. The highvelocity stuff I just picked up cheap. Normally use it for teaching the grandkids.

Seems I remember it disappeared from the shelves for two years last time. Surely I mis-remember.
No, not totally. It was very spotty tho. Online you had to keep checking all websites and some would pop up. They were limiting it to one or two boxes per order tho. I bought Minimags in March and April 2013 for $8.99 per 100 from Cabela's and in May 2013 for $7.99 from Ammo to Go. In June 2013, I ordered 400 rounds from Midway for $6.99 per 100. In November of that year I got 250 rds of Stingers from MidSouth Shooters for $5.04 per 50.

By April of 2014 it started getting more plentiful but prices were hanging around $9.99 per 100. Never saw it get past that except CTD, LOL.

    That's a little harsh don't you think?
Only if you are warped and think I would use it on my grandkids rather than teaching them! I changed the post to add teaching just so you wouldn't be confused. We also use ear protection so that isn't an issue either.

I did buy about 2k rounds from Classic the other day. Looks like it's drop shipping from a distributor. They were Aguila standard velocity rounds. Ended up being around $.06/round after shipping and tax so still not bad.
