That is a perfect example of a push notification.i see a red bar at bottom of screen everytime i get on this site asking me if i want to enable a push notification
That's better'n being cruel w/o a sense of humor - I suppose...Someone's got a cruel sense of humor...
IF you dont want to see it again when you hit the x another red banner pops up asking if you want to never be asked again.
This is what I was asking about in the software update thread:
"I'm continuously getting the following notification on the bottom of the screen:
Texas Gun Talk - The Premier Texas Gun Forum would like your permission to enable push notifications.
Hit the "X" and receive the following:
We strongly recommend enabling push notifications on this device so that you can be kept up-to-date with site activity.
I am clicking on 'Never ask again' and well, here I am, about to click on it again.
Help?"

and just for fun are you logged in. If you are on as a guest it may not know to save your settings.
Are you sure you want to enable that option? If you enable it, you can zap the trolls that show up on the forum!

Your post is very much appreciated. It enabled me to figure out what the unreadable text says after hitting the X... Whoever it is who thinks black text has enough contrast to be readable over dark red background is a flipping idiot... So I pressed what I think said "Never ask again." We'll see what happens. This is what I was asking about in the software update thread:

You can turn this feature on and off at will. Click on the notification bell in the top right, scroll down and select preferences. You'll see a button to turn on or off push notifications.
well I clicked never ask again and it listened.
So unless you are running some kind of adblock type software that is stopping it I do not know what to tell you . I would turn off ad blocking stuff and try again.
