A good morning to all and a very happy Thanksgiving to all as well.

Things going smoothly so far with the feast preparations. Just finished peeling & cutting the butternut squash - tough skins to peel have they! Going to bake that in with butter cinnamon, garlic and love. My son requested it thus the addition of the love. The apple pie was baked last night and smells absolutely as if it will be wonderfully delicious even though no McIntosh apples were to be found. Sweet potatoes need a good scrubbing yet. The breads in my 4 bread stuffing (cinnamon raisin bagel, everything bagel, Dave's Killer Bread (a multi-grain/seed bread) and a couple of English muffins) were dried in the oven last night and I've added 2 small bags of almonds and a good portion of cinnamon. Need to add a couple of eggs just before stuffing the bird. Now debating whether to also add breakfast sausages or Granny Smith apples - or both. The turkey is still wrapped in the fridge. Was told it was fresh but when I just checked the cooking instructions on the bag it said to thaw it for so many days (frigging twit at Sam's club had no clue even though she said she understood I meant fresh as in never having been frozen before). It will taste as good as a fresh one I suppose - as in delicious. Forgot to get fresh green vegetables so I guess it will be frozen, I've got stir fry mix that is very good. I can get something if any stores are open.
I also need to get some aluminum oven pans/dishes to use to cook the squash - always forget a thing or two; if I do not find an open store that has then, into the dutch oven they go and that will go in the oven.

Gotta get going, have to hit the dog park. Only a very short walk this morning, the hip is not cooperating!

All in all, things have been going smoothly so far. Have an excellent feast today and remember to give thanks for what you have. Enjoy the company of friends & family or if alone enjoy the peace that comes with solitude. Later 4 U all.

    Teague
It turned out to be about 12 minutes per pound for a 12 lb turkey.
We were watching the ole gauge. Got to 15 min before time and thermometer said 165. Snatched it out and mom temp'd it at 172-175 so no tellin where it peaked at with carryover. Breast was to die for but the dark meat on the bottom got a little tough. After a little more edumacation on YT Im realizing it should have come out at 155 in order to peak at 165.

Second round on saturday with all the fam. Im very pleased with it.

Im very curious what kind of heat range this thing runs at. Gonna be a lot of temp'g of the machine saturday.

A lot of the heat range depends upon what oil you decide to use in your turkey fryer. Most people use peanut oil because it has a higher flash point than other oils.

Pulling at about 150 would have been better, since the turkey is still going to be cooking even after it's pulled.

Run your fryer at about 325 to about 350 degrees.
